I miss Tim Krul at the WC 2014 in this list. It's easy to include midfielders and strikers in this list because they can come on and score goals but Tim Krul came on cold after 120 minutes of football and put in a masterclass in goal by either stopping the penalties or looking so big in goal the player taking the penalty missed. Without LVG bringing on Krul, managers nowadays, like Tuchel did with Kepa in the European Supercup game, wouldn't have dared to bring on goalies for penalties only. It really was an iconic substitution.

Krul's substitution was merely in a quarter final, for a team that did not end up winning the trophy, and Alfie stated clearly that the occasion was the deciding factor, not the sensation of it. Krul should not be on this list, and I'm saying that as a Dutchman.

In all 6 games he game on as a substitute. He scored 5 goals and only failed to score in only 1 game and those goals included the winner in the Final vs Ghana. So in the 173 minutes he played, he managed to help his team win the title, got the top goal scorer award and won the player of the tournament. Marcos Llorente against Liverpool. Bringing on a defensive midfielder as a striker who then turns the game around from 0-2 to a 3-2 win against the reigning European champions with two goals and an assist. So impactful that he's remained a forward / attacking midfielder since then, he had never played up front before that game. Great substitutions should be more significant than 'just' goals imo, besides his impact on the scoreboard it was a wholly unexpected, bold move that shaped the fortunes of both Llorente as a player and Atlético as a club as a result. Llorente was their best outfield player when they won the league last year, contributing to 25 goals. He'd only ever scored twice professionally (for Real Madrid) before Anfield.

Raddy Antic for Luton against Man City 1984, last game of the season at Maine Road, 42,000 in the ground, a good 10,000 of them from Luton, the hatters needed three points and had to win to stay up, City needed a point to stay up, didn't matter what happened elsewhere, it was all or nothing, cracking game, lots of heart stopping moments, David Pleat sent on Radomir Antic, a former Yugoslavian international and a player of immense quality who was a wonderful striker of the ball with either foot and had skill to give away (RIP sadly passed now) with just under 20 minutes to go, with four minutes to go Raddy stepped up to score a great goal from outside the area that sent the Luton fans into absolute raptures and City sliding into the old second division. When David Pleat was asked after the game what was he thinking putting Antic on and he said "sometimes the most inspired thing you can do on the bench is hope, and when I put Raddy on he done exactly what i hoped he would do", he also said some time later that it was probably the most important win in the clubs history as it laid the foundation for the years that followed which were the most successful in the clubs history, they became a firmly established first division team (premier league of the day) that went deep into every competition for several years and won the littlewoods cup at wembley in what Trevor Brooking described as one of the best games he ever witnessed at the famous old stadium, David Pleats substitution, easily the most important ever.

Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 176) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.

This video is a really interesting prospect and could open up a good series if it does well like "Best X nationality players in Y league"

@@joaojesus5332 exactly. It could be the opening of a new series which is easy to make because it doesn't need that much research and will be enjoyed by many many people from the chosen country.

Do it yourself. You could research it yourself and you would’ve save about 5 months of your life. But to each their own, I guess.

Good video! Would you consider putting some women’s examples as well in some of these top 7 type things?

Netzer also managed Hamburger to victory in the European Cup in 83. HITC Sevens is a certified football hip after this one.
