The 21st century has given us one of the greatest national teams of all time, in Spain, possibly the greatest club side we've ever seen, in Barcelona, and, arguably, the two greatest footballers of all time, in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
In this video, following twelve months of work, HITC Sevens takes a look at some of the greatest players since 2000 in every position, from goalkeepers to strikers, the greatest managers, and ultimately a greatest XI & squad from throughout the period.

Imo Lahm is the best fullback ever played the game because he just shut down everyone he played against. His most impressive stats are he never received a red card in his career and played a whole season without booking even a single foul. 🤯 There's was no player who could beat him in a isolated 1on1 situation. I love and tend to agree with most everything with this Channel..but Dani Carvajal not being minimum a top 2 right back is criminal. He’s been a starter and made an impact on FIVE Champions League winning Real Madrid squads and finals. And given how Madrid are in Semi’s again this season…possibly a 6th. The whole Giggs thing is gutting really. He was absolute quality and I grew up worshipping him (I am not a Man U fan but I but remember kissing the screen when he scored his penalty in the 07/08 CL final), however him being a dodgy character might overshadow what he did. I guess Alfies age..2000 was probably the start of when he started watching football..also it makes sense, being the start of the new millennium etc..personally I'd prefer it if he started these things in 1995 but as I say..starting in 2000 makes more sense.

The best players who are only legends in their own country. Prime example: willem van hanegem is often seen as a top 3 of all time dutch player. That means he is rated over players like Gullit, Bergkamp, Rijkaard etc

Dude won a hatrick of Premier league golden gloves beating Cech & Van Der Sar, despite both of them having better defenders and defensive midfielders protecting them. A calming presence in the box and a reliable penalty stopper, he was also the best ball playing goalkeeper in the word before Neuer arrived on the scene. Also don't forget that he was the second choice goalkeeper for that all conquering Spanish side - Valdes was clearly a distant third choice in the national side. Yes, he did start declining by 2013, but so did Valdes after that horrible injury towards the end of his Barcelona career. However, Reina did recover from his decline and had impressive stints at Napoli, Lazio, Aston Villa and is still going at Villa Real. Please put on some respect on his name.
