As a Roma fan, the 2018 transfer window's effects are still felt till this day. We somehow went from Champions League regulars and occasional title pretenders to struggling to get to the Europa League in the span of two seasons and in perpetual rebuilding. Monchi's mistakes were quite shocking and a lot of questions remain to be answered. Like why he preferred Pastore to Ziyech, who got extremely close to Roma thanks to Totti's efforts. Totti also ended up resigning after feeling like he wasn't listened to.

Idk if I'm alone on that, but Sevilla in La Liga kinda reminds me of Braga in Portugal, they are trying to break the big 3 clubs' dominance (Porto, Benfica and Sporting), but haven't won a league title yet. @tybomortier1211 Жыл бұрын
I've been a Sevilla fan for a while now. This year has been chaotic and just plain bad. Januzaj is just baffling, doesn't care if he plays or not. His hands may been tied this summer but Monchi did a bad job, that's just a fact. The fanbase would agree. The transfers were just made like 5 days before the start of the league. Even free transfers as Isco, Januzaj or loans like Dolberg. It was just weird, so weird. The money they have is nothing compared to premier league clubs (wich is a big big problem in my opinion). Like you said at the end. Relegation teams in Premier League can pay way more. The Isco transfer get's a lot of laughs now, but almost all fans would agree that he and Bounou were by far the best players in the squad. Ocampos was so bad last season that everyone was happy to get him out. It's sad to see that a club like this with an amazing stadium and amazing fans is doing this bad. For my the midfield is by far the biggest problem, energy is what they lack the most. That's as clear as day. the aging midfield is sad to watch.

Exactly nailed the point that clubs like sevilla that operate on developing youth/buying cheap players to then sell for profit in top leagues really suffers in the modern game. It works for clubs in leagues they dominate I.E Benfica,Porto, Ajax & PSV. But is becoming very hard for clubs in leagues like the Serie A, La liga, Ligue 1, bundesliga. Ajax & Benfica are able to sell there best players and still regularly win the league because they are so much ahead of the rest of the competition financially, but try doing that in a league where you have the top dogs and they are the people you're selling to and you are in for a hard time.
@Eibarwoman Жыл бұрын
It doesn't work as well as you also have the Real Sociedad and Athletic Club types which also like to develop internally to keep talent as long as possible which results in "lifers". Said clubs can still have really poor seasons to the point of Real Sociedad's relegation in the late 2000s
@Eibarwoman Жыл бұрын
The Elche situation further east is pretty much of similar magnitude of points loss pace, but is probably even more baffling as the roster's not that old, most of La Liga's been selling talent and not buying (getting worse) while Elche's been standing still which should have lifted the team which finished 13th upwards. Instead, Elche's got 4 points in 20th, 12 points behind safety which is Sevilla in 17th. The problem might be how Elche's owner is an Argentinian who is really fond of signing Argentinian players for only a bit more than River Plate or Boca Juniors selling "We're in La Liga" as the recruitment point in a league where you can't rapidly recruit young non-naturalized Argentinians of any quality whether on free transfer or a fee which have the highest potential for improving the squad and squad finances. Naturalized dual nationals, he can easily sign and there's no shortage of them in Spain whether they grew up in Spain or moved then naturalized as footballers. Edit: Had to explain some stuff about the Argentinians.

Hi. Sevilla fan here. Gladly (or sadly) surprised how well informed many of the comments are. I'm 28 and I've never seen my team doing this. Here in Sevilla nobody understand how this is happening. There is no anger on the air, just a feeling of depression cos we all feel this is going to end with us going down to league2. EVERYONE knew there was no point on starting the season with Lopetegui, the team plays no football at all, we've been signing 30 olds players with no physic whatsoever, just short guys with a lot of skills but zero speed. Now we bring back Sampaoli (I really thought this was a joke) who is the last guy you can hire for this job. He wants to play with the ball always, passing from GK to CB NEVER kicking the ball out. This cost us 1 point yesterday, and Sampaoli is NEVER going to change his orders wherever we are in the table. This is a problem, and since yesterday people has lost all the faith in him. But its not his fault. We've been thinking we had the best sport director (i dont know if you guys call it that way) but this summer signings have been the worse in our history. That is the most frustrsting thing of all, we've been winning all this trophies and reached Champions three years in a row (first time ever) and we have NO MONEY AT ALL and we always sign loan players 2 days prior market close. Meanwhile, seeing this fckn circus, former president Jose Maria Del Nido is trying to come back. And he will, is just a matter of months, but because of this there is a war inside the club. This man was in jail not so many years ago for taking money that didnt belong to him, and he has a very difficult kind of character. Some fans wants him back because they think he will put order into things, but some others (me included) things he just wants power, hes anxious about it, and you can see it everytime he speaks. Like I said, there is no stop to the change and he will be president, we'll see where this lead us to.... Thanks for the video and the comments, nice to see some people caring about us a little bit.

I thought they were doing well considering that they have the 2 players that were responsible of making portugal loose the world cup and the fact that they have 2 players from argentina XI.

Sevilla also had a big debt, thats why they sold kounde for way less than what they were asking for last yeat. Thats also why they sold diego carlos although he didnt wanted to leave

Watching this vid on January 18th and Sevilla sits down at 19th place, oh boy.

Karma. After the disgrace of the 2013/2014 Europa league final and how much they were helped, the referee keeping them alive throughout the match and letting the gk save all penaltis 1 meter away from the line at the end, they're probably cursed forever. As they should.

I hold Seville officials partly to blame for Rangers UEL final loss. Our fans are a huge part of how we are so successful. The blistering heat and no water available for fans and actually confiscated from fans on entry made us very quiet.

Been waiting for this, I like sevilla and they have been pretty decent in recent times, but this is a huge mess rn

Crawley would be good as their situation is quite something, even moreso given they just convinced the Swindon Town boss to jump ship from a team fighting for promotion to join their rabble

Valencia was the 4th in contention in la Liga, even 3rd when my Atleti was struggling with it's life and the Gil mafia. Real Zaragoza was more competitive and a better team from 1992-2006. Real Sociedad almost won their 3rd Liga in 2002. Real Betis with the mafia boy Lopera was competitive in the 90's and 00's. I LOVED Depor winning their first Liga in 2000. With Athletic Club I don't have a memory when they could've won the Liga in the last two decades

Villa aren't in a relegation dog fight - they're in mid-table obscurity. Sevilla desperately need goals and their team is too old.
