You should do a follow up to What has happen to Australian football. I sense a repeat of the mid 2010s will happen, when the game was growing in popularity, you think this would happen after the socceroos great performance at the world cup and then the media turned on the game and only covered negative stories to help destroy the game. Nearly worked as attendances dropped. Can also discuss that the federal government invests more money into hockey, sailing and cycling over football

I’ve never understood why Football isn’t far more popular in Australia?? I find it strange how Cricket and Rugby were the Sports that the Aussies fell in love with when the British took it with them to Australia in our Colonial past…. Maybe it’s because those Sports were classed as upper class and Football is traditionally Working Class…. Therefore the only English Working class in Australia in those times were prisoners whereas the elites who ruled from Britain would have looked down their Noses at Football back then….

Let's get one thing clear - England have been good at scoring. Unless they don't score. Iran, Wales and Senegal obviously outweigh the draw with USA. But you watch large parts of England matches and there is no creativity, no skill. Maybe Grealish, but who else can run with the ball? The game Gareth is playing is - get the ball and take your chances. Is Transfermarkt right? Possibly, but that's because of the infamous PL 'tax'. The richest league can afford to pay for, and keep, the best players. Although we love our exotic foreign talent, if that's all it was there would be a backlash. So English players attract a premium. Watching the teams in the World Cup it's obvious that France, Brazil and Portugal are by far the best. The only hope for England is they sit back against the French and wait patiently for the counter. Regardless, the best outcome has to be Brazil v Portugal in the final. Yes, perhaps it will be more in hope than expectation, but we can always hope!

English players are always hugely overvalued for the simple reason that premier league is the richest championship and at the same time the squads need to have about 1/3 of homegrown players. Which is also the reason why you don't see them playing in championships other than the English one. Team like Barcelona Real Bayern etc can afford them but they can get just as good or better foreign players at less than half the price from elsewhere and at the same time the English players themselves have no reason to move abroad for half the money they can get in what is something of an oligopoly for them in their own country. End of the day a player's worth what someone is willing to pay for them and not what their objective value is. Case in point Ronaldo whom no team in Europe wanted but nonetheless became the highest paid footballer in history at the age of 37 by moving to Saudi Arabia...
