People forget that Ronaldinho was the last player to score and assist more than +10 in a season for AC Milan since the arrival of Rafael Leao. Even when he was considered past his best he was still the best player on the pitch for Milan in many a game. Like when he destroyed Juventus in 2010, he finished the 09/10 season with 12 goals and 18 assists, which is incredible, and not even Rafael Leao has come close to matching that.

as a werder bremen fan, this video made me nostalgic. we really had an absurd streak when it came to offensive midfielders in the 00's and early 2010's. micoud was one of the best players in the bundesliga at his peak, and after he left, he was replaced by diego, who back then was seen as a huge risk, but turned out to be one of the best number 10s in the world at werder. unfortunately, his peak coincided with kaká's peak, so he never really got the chance to play for brazil's national team. diego then went on a way too cheap transfer to juventus and was replaced by mesut özil and marko marin, who unfortunately plummeted hard after leaving bremen but was heralded as the "german messi" at werder. marin then left for chelsea for another bargain fee, and in return we got a 21 year old belgian talent on loan from them, whose name was kevin de bruyne

Müller is technically so much better than people realize. He looks lanky and wooden, yes. To those that do not see him often enough, it feels like the balls just drop into place for him by pure luck and chance. The way he just plucked that one out of the air, chest-high, with an outstretched leg, looking like a marionette crafted by a kid... if that was intentional, he'd have the powers only Ibrahimovic has! BUT! He's been doing this, since, forever. Yes, he knows exactly what he's doing! His first touch is hellishly amazeballs - no the ball he takes on doesn't land where you expected it, but it lands EXACTLY where the Raumdeuter wanted it, in his stride, taking out the flummoxed defender in the same way as the TV spectator. He does this. All the time. Perhaps that's his best trait of all - fooling the world into believing he was not technically gifted, when everything that happens around him is WHAT HE MAKES HAPPEN.

He is also quite the normal guy with a good sense of humor and a master of handling the press in his interviews. Fun fact, he and his wife own a stud where you can buy horses and even horse semen lol. He also has a noteable presence on instagram showing him taking care of other animals too. While both Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva are attacking midfielders, both are brilliant they are completely different. KdB is a visionary with superb passing skills, while Silva works best as pressing attractor, forcing opposing team to press him with two or three players, crating open space and giving the ball away when he made the opposing team wide opened.

@@charanb5026 that's not really what I meant. That may be true as well, of course they aren't as well supported as other EPL teams who have been top tier clubs for far longer and have more tradition. But these are different points. I just personally think that acchievements and performances for City don't seem to count as much in the eyes of the public...I mean I'm pretty sure every Arsenal fan appreciates to genius of Lampard or Hazard more and vice versa in case of, say, Vieira or Henry, than any City player. Not a city fan here BTW, just pointing out my observation. Been following PL football closely for 15 years and I believe City players tend to get fewer recognition fot their acchievements...

Wait... no Zidane? I can't believe it... you also left out some great 10s from the early 2000s such as Djalminha, Alex de Souza, Valeron, Aimar and possibly a few others
@tfe17884 ай бұрын
Zidane's prime was in the 1990s😂😂, watching Zidane in 1995-1998 is one the best players I've ever watched. Zidane won the ballon d'Or and the World Cup in 1998 and retired in 2006 after 4 very weak years for the player which were very disrupted. To call Zidane a top ten greatest player of all time I'd agree 100% but in the 2000s he ain't making the top ten attacking midfielders

I guess Müller still is underrated. Nobody in this list holds anything against Müller except individuell peak. Müller has the most goals in this list, most assist, most trophys, most big trophys, best longevity, played a key role in the best season any club had since 2000 and is the only player with Özil who played a big role in a world cup win. I'm fine with Ronaldinho he was way more than stats and trophys and I can argue about Kaka who also was literally the best in the world at one point but de Bruyne has no argument especially after he only won the big one after he got the best team mate a nr 10 could ask for since CR7 played with Özil.

Wesley Sneidjer was the best player in 2010. He should have won the Ballon D'or that year. To take Inter to the Champions League, and Holland to the WC final.

Milito, Maicon and zanetti were better in inter and Robben was better in Netherlands. He was just the only one to be in both teams and because of his teams’ success, he somehow got a shout for the ballon d’or. He definitely deserved 4th, nothing higher or lower than that. Also sneijder didn’t really have that many world class seasons outside of that
@colinh9294 Жыл бұрын
@@nicodiangelo7051 Inter definitely was a defensive team, however they needed him to unlock the other team, remember that pass to Etoo at the Bridge. As for the Netherlands, he was the one to pass the ball to Robben to have the 1 on 1 was Casillas. He was the play maker on both of those teams.
@poppyharlow4448 Жыл бұрын
@@Prasko131 i agree he wasn't the best player on that Netherlands team, but by FAR he was the top dog at Inter. I highly doubt Milito would've scored as many as he did if he didn't have Sneidjer behind him

What I liked about him is that, people would steam up to him and barley without moving, he would adjust the ball without any tackle, like "torro!"

I haven't thought about Riquelme for years. Most famous action (without Google): He missed a decisive penalty in the 2006 CL semi-final against Arsenal or Lehmann saved it back then, right?
