One of my greatest sadnesses with football is we never got to see Neymar reach the level he was truly capable of. He had amazing and productive seasons at both Barca and PSG but I feel he could’ve pushed on even further and become the unquestioned best player in the world once Ronaldo and Messi started to taper off (by their standards) into their mid thirties, and won multiple Ballon D’ors.
@joeerickson258110 ай бұрын
I agree with you. I think people will begin to fully appreciate Neymar only after he retires, unfortunately. Even with injury issues, he’s still one of the all-time greats. Just the Brazil goal-scoring record from mostly LW speaks for itself.
@TheMixCurator10 ай бұрын
Up until 2015 he had the world at his feet. I'd thought he'd explode into a season or two of Ronaldinho esque form but it wasn't to be. There seem to be so many "nearly" players since 2000. Sadly, Neymar seems to be one of them (Hazard as well, but he was a level below)

@wolfmauler10 ай бұрын
@@royalroyal2210As a traditional liberal, I was a big fan of his for some time, but the political shift has become increasingly overt as time has went on. The general tone of absolutism, the smug self righteous parroting of the general talking points of the authoritarian left, the MSM style cherry picking and straw man arguments when characterising views and beliefs of so called "right wing" figures, the sense of hushed reverence when he casually inserts communist imagery like the old hammer & sickle. As seemingly a student of history, he must be aware of socialism's track record of human misery, and so unfortunately, he may fall into that deluded group of college indoctrinated, home grown marxists, who contend that every brutal, authoritarian state, "just didn't do it right...", it wasn't "true communism"...
@royalroyal221010 ай бұрын
@@wolfmauler i wouldn't go as far, but i would be keen to say Alfie's not as neutral as he claimed to be, especially with this video compared to the Right Wingers' one, where he made mockery of loony Right Wingers there, but almost none here, which i find so odd. I also noticed especially his great disdain towards the Tory Cameron & Thatcher, but ever so few about the Labour Blair, which is strange since both Cameron and Blair are same bunch of d*ckheads

@@wolfmauler Um. If he's talking about old Soviet Teams (he has a bit) of course he'll feature a hammer and sickle. Saying Mane has a dubious personal life because he married an adult who was always at the age of consent in the country is weird. In both west African and Muslim traditions there is a younger “start date” for when women are viable to be married. I guarantee he kept a secret because he knew no one in English or German media would be in the slightest bit curious about what the age of consent is, the relationship they have, what the courtship process looked like, the relationship mane has with her parents, etc. Just “oh the age is too low in our country so he must be bad” and to equate him getting married to giggs and his shit is proof of why he should have kept it secret

I feel like Neymar and Ribéry need to switch places. Ribéry was absolutely phenomenal on the left wing and his trophy cabinet is second to only Ronaldo‘s, if that. Neymar arguably peaked a bit higher (though I wouldn’t say that this is a foregone conclusion) but Ribéry clearly had a much longer peak. And Hazard should also be above Neymar in my book. I would also like to add one honorable mention. Speaking of Ribéry, his predecessor at Bayern, Mehmet Scholl, was just as awesome. But he is clearly too old to make it into the top 7 here, having played most of his games during the 1990s with a professional career between 1989 and 2007. in 1991 he joined Bayern where he played until the end of his career. So his trophy cabinet is huge. He is also a class act without any scandals.

Ribery’s trophy case isn’t that much bigger than Neymar’s, and he never had the talismanic footballing ability of Neymar and Hazard, so I believe it’s fair for him to get 4th.

Ribery didn't hit the heights of Neymar and neymar himself was literally in the absolute elite of world football for about a decade... You're talking like he only had 2-3 years when in reality since 2012 he's been one of the best out there, sth that you can't say to the same extent about Ribery who wasn't at quite that LVL for the entirety of his career. By the time Ribery went to Bayern, Neymar was already a world star for 5 years at the same point in his career.

Not a left winger. There's a difference between playing left winger and starting from the left side, which I'll admit, make CR's inclusion in this list questionable.
