As a young (22yr old) Australian, Harry Kewell has the originating and defining factor that made me a EPL fan, over other leagues like the Serie A that had players like Bresciano and Zeljko Kalac. I know that his time at Liverpool wasn't a thing of legend. But teams like Barca and Inter were both interested when he left Leeds, this shows the real talent he had. Without him and (Cahill), Australia would NOT be a regular world cup contributor. Players like Mooy, Ryan and Rogic owe their overseas careers to the men like Kewell, Viduka, Schwarzer, Emerton, Lazaridis, Chipperfield, Moore, Grella, Culina and Neill that lead a path to European football. Without that generation Aussie football would be worse off than now (which is already a sad state of affairs)

Sakho is adored at Liverpool. If he ever gets subbed on at Anfield, he'd get a massive cheer, as he is a "soldier of Liverpool" as he once said. Banned by WADA and UEFA for taking a weight loss substance that was NOT on the banned list, just so he missed the Europa League final and Euro 2016 in his home country. He was Liverpool's best defender at the time and UEFA did what they could to stop Liverpool winning it, and it worked.

Chelsea 99-00: Chris Sutton: 1/10. a singular league goal in his only season when he cost a then-reasonably high 10m.. awful signing. 00-01: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink: 9/10. while he trailed off somewhat in the latter two years of his four year spell, the first two years were exceptional. 70 league goals across 136 games is nothing to sneeze at. excellent signing for 15m 01-02: Frank Lampard: 10/10. can't really do this one justice. the transfer fee of that time could have been multiplied by 10 (from 11m to 111m) and in the long-run it'd still be seen as good value with his accomplishments. one of the greatest signings of the modern era of football. 02-03: Felipe Oliveira 1/10. five league appearances across three seasons, utter non-entity. even at 500k he can't be considered worth it. 03-04: Damien Duff: 8/10. ultimately a good signing and consistent servant for the club, well worth the 17m 04-05: Didier Drogba: 10/10. 24m is nothing to sneeze at. but neither is Drogba's potency, a reasonably goal-rate of 100 goals in 226 games doesn't fully portray how excellent Drogba was. two golden boots, excellent support play with 54 assists. and a knack for rising to the occasion, the ultimate big-game player. Munich was worth the 24m alone. 05-06: Michael Essien: 9/10. a phenomenal midfielder, who at his peak was amongst the best in the world in his position, just a shame he was dogged by injuries in later years. will remember that strike against Arsenal to the end of my days. 06-07: Andriy Shevchenko: 2/10. flashes of quality here or there weren't enough to mask an extremely poor goal-rate, blatantly clear that Mourinho had no desire to make this signing. a then-british-record 31m down the drain. 07-08: Nicolas Anelka: 8/10. a slow start and a poor finish but the middle section (the 08-09 and 09-10 seasons) were excellent, a golden boot and a solid contribution to a lethal Chelsea attack, not bad for 15m in that market. 08-09: Jose Bosingwa: 6/10. inconsistent, but a reasonable journeyman in the squad, didn't do much to stand out, but overall, not a bad signing for 16.2m 09-10: Yuri Zhirkov: 3/10. was never terrible, but hardly added much to the squad, end product was non-existent considering how prolific the team he played in was. not great for 18m. 10-11: Fernando Torres: 4/10. difficult to weigh up in the end, had some really bright patches, was pivotal in both the CL and EL wins in 2012 and 2013, but there's no hiding how appalling his goal record was, with only 20 league goals in 110 games as a 50m signing, (at that point a british record, it weighs against him quite badly. 11-12: Juan Mata: 9/10. selling Mata remains to me as Mourinho's most inexplicably stupid move. Lukaku, Salah and De Bruyne were dumb moves, yes,at least but unlike Mata, they hadn't outright PROVEN their quality within the squad, Mata was Chelsea's player of the year two-seasons running. 18 league goals and 25 assists across his first two seasons were impressive to say the least, a bargain at 23.5m 12-13: Eden Hazard: 10/10. this one goes without saying, outright Chelsea's best player in all barring two seasons (12-13 itself and 15-16) of his time spent there. 85 league goals and 54 assists, and that's without going into his supreme talent outside of his end-product. 32m very well spent. 13-14: Willian: 7/10. while he may lack in consistency and end-product (which still aren't that bad relatively speaking), Willian has overall been a fairly good signing for 30m. 14-15: Diego Costa: 9/10. the lynchpin of two title winning squads, he may be a scumbag, but he was an excellent signing, only being held back by the one bad season in between two great ones. a man who could win games by himself, bargain at 32m. 15-16: Pedro: 8/10. when he's good, he's GOOD. but too inconsistent to warrant a higher score, his goals+assist tallies for his 4 seasons are an interesting pattern, 9, 18, 6, 10. so every other season you're going to get a pretty good player. NOTE: Some dispute over transfer fees here and which one was ultimately higher, so I'll create two entries for 16-17. 16-17: N'golo Kante: 10/10. the best defensive-oriented midfielder in the world. absolute steal. 16-17: Michy Batshuayi: 2/10. barring that title-winner, has made very little headway, a victim of Chelsea's loan approach. 17-18: Alvaro Morata: 4/10. No. he wasn't as bad as Torres overall and the stats support it. but 24 goals in 72 games is still ultimately pretty poor, especially for a club record 58m signing. 18-19: Kepa Arrizabalaga: 8/10. barring that EFL cup drama, has made a solid start to life, and certainly has shown real promise. good signing so far. even at a costly 72m.

No. he wasn't as bad as Torres overall and the stats support it. but 24 goals in 72 games is still ultimately pretty poor, especially for a club record 58m signing. 18-19: Kepa Arrizabalaga: 8/10. barring that EFL cup drama, has made a solid start to life, and certainly has shown real promise. good signing so far. even at a costly 72m.

Emile Heskey was a great holding midfielder, unfortunately, it wasn't a position he didn't play in.

I hope we can find a way to sign Koulibaly in the summer. I don't dislike Gomez in the back, and if he is able to progress then maybe my opinion will change. But for now, I wouldn't be against paying 100 million for him, I mean who else would we really need to spend that money on?

Heskey was actually a decent forward, like a Benzema or Giroud, holding the ball and passing to the other players most of the time.
