It’s quite clear on the video, you pulled the 9 footer. No putter could have saved you from that. So not the putter’s fault. This is not really original. Teardrop made Roll Face Putters decades ago. Do you remember Ram Putters? I have a Ram shaped putter made by Bettenardi, designed by Teardrop with a roll face with grooves similar to this putter. It’s visually stunning in my opinion with absolutely first class build and puts an end over end roll on the ball every time. This idea really works. Rick, put it in your bag is my advice. You might find it runs a bit further, as it rolls the ball right from the start instead of skid and roll but you will get used to that after a while and adjust your backswing length to compensate. Give it a real go. I think you will love it.

One area I could see this putter potentially helping is when you are on the edge of the fringe, or maybe just an inch or two in to the rough but want to putt it. I used to putt with the blade of my sand wedge from the fringe. It worked so well that I putted that way all the time for about two years. That design should benefit puts from off the green. From the fringe, place the ball back in your stance a bit and it should add lift, helping it skim over the fringe. From taller grass off the green, hit below the ball center line and chip with this putter. Many golfers use a putting stroke when they chip with a wedge or iron from just off the green. This putter may make that put chip shot easier to pull off. I’ll know soon. I just ordered this putter.

@SableParrotАй бұрын
I assume it works because it doesn't lift the ball, like putters with 4 degree loft. That combination of hitting the center of the ball, but it not breaking contact with the surface starts it rolling immediately. However, its reliant on a consistent lie on a consistent surface. Different lies will make the ball react differently. Using it on artificial surfaces is no test
@SpoilerGolfАй бұрын
Correct, earlier friction with the putting surface reduces backspin/skid, allowing for pure, forward roll earlier in the putt.

Clever because it looks like it is easier to put a good roll on the ball. I have a tendency to hit down on my putts from time to time which puts back spin on the ball. Also this would surely be better for those putts when the fringe is behind the ball.

Lot's of variables in putting. The more you lean the shaft forward, yes, the leading edge will be lower, but depends on your stroke and attack angle - more-so. As long as you are impacting the ball on the start of the upswing (right after the bottom of your arc), a bit of shaft lean shouldn't be an issue.
