On October 1st, the majority of my family loaded up and drove to Terre Haute, IN to the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center to meet Eva Mozes Kor and Rainer Hoess. Eva is a survivor of Auschwitz and Dr. Mengele himself. Rainer is the grandson of Rudolf Hoess the commandant of Auschwitz. It is seem as an odd friendship but if you know anything about either person, you would understand. Together they share a message of how to endure evil in our lives. It was worth the trip.
The movie being discussed is "Hitler's Children" about the surviving children and grandchildren of top Nazis.

It takes incredible courage to speak out against your own family and to make a stand against facism. There is hope for the world as long as people make a courageous stand. what an amazing human being!

standing up to the past and speaking out is healing for both the ones involved in the genocide and those who were the victims of it. A brave voice !!! Bravo to both !

I don't know Rainer Hoess all that well but I have had the pleasure of having some conversations with him through my interest in the work he and the rest of the Footsteps team are doing. I first encountered him through various videos and documentaries - people saying to me "Check it out, grandson of Hoess.. can you believe it?" and the guilt that he was carrying in these videos really bothered me. The work he is doing is phenomenal. You should follow him and get involved in some of the work he is doing or at least become aware of it and promote it.

+Isosceles Kramer (groovylocks) Thank you for the thought and suggestion. This was the first time I met Rainer. Some of my pictures have been used by him and Eva Kor in various articles. I do support their work and will always offer my services.

11:34 it's not his "legacy" you can't pass blame onto the descendants of perpetrators.

Yet, people do blame descendants of perpetrators. That's what's behind the so called reparations
@rosaoddin4338
@rosaoddin4338 4 жыл бұрын
Reparations are ridiculous - making people, other generations pay for when they were not even in the world or responsible. My uncle was POW from Bataan Death March, he was in POW camp O’Donnell in Philippines, then taken to Japan and forced to work in their mines. He survived, weighed 60 pounds when the camps were liberated due to the Atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki. He would have died if not for that event. Why doesn’t Japan pay reparations for this slave labor? And for the millions of Chinese, Filipinos, Asians that were horrifically treated, so many died - as a result of Japanese war machine. Reparations are stupid, it is only a political football. Who’s going to pay reparations for the genocides that have occurred in Africa (black Africans on black Africans), for the Khmer Rouge, etc.? The list is endless. Everyone is a victim today, it’s a real victim mentality.

Thank you for sharing . I am curious is there anyway you can contact Rainer? I would love to write him a letter or email and let him know how much I admire him and what he’s doing. Eva was a wonderful human being as well so sad to hear of her passing; I would have loved to meet her and hear her speak. What a brave and beautiful soul she was ❤️ I also find it so cool that these two were able to create such a special bond inspite of their differences so much respect for both of them!

Bob Schwab ok thank you very much for the info. I was able to send him an email as he had it on his Facebook page. The other question I had was if you know where you can buy the book he wrote .. in English? I was looking it up online and all I found were German versions that were super pricey.
