At the height of the Second World War, Nazi Germany was willing to do anything to maintain its grip on the conflict. With the full power and industrial strength of the United States now poised to meet the Wehrmacht on the battlefield, Hitler sought secretive means to gain an advantage over this formidable opponent. One such method, was espionage. Operation Pastorius was a very ambitious German sabotage plot designed to sneak several agents into the United States with one goal - destruction and mayhem.

You should talk about "the dai hong dan incident". Where in 2007, a north Korean cargo ship got hijacked by Somalian pirates. And a US warship came to the rescue after hearing their distress call. Fortunately, the NK sailors took the ship back after killing 2 of the baddies, and capturing 5 more. 3 of the sailors needed medical treatment, where US Navy medical personnel helped them. When the news spread around NK, they made a VERY RARE statement, PRAISING the US navy for answering the distress call for the their sailors. Worth talking about it. I'mma keep posting this comment until I get Simple History's attention! 😅😅 BREAKING NEWS: Simple History got back to me on Instagram DM, and they said they’ll do it!!!

Not true given the number of soviet, russian and chinese spies that have been caught after doing their damage. There's just levels here, i mean picking a concentration camp prisoner for a spy? But the head of German intelligence, Canaris, was secretly against Hitler. So he did a lot of self-sabotage behind Hitler's back and some of the weird decisions may have been from his orders. Its hard to say how much because he also had to pretend to Hitler he was loyal and competent to not get replaced by Himmler.

Its called wargaming. President Roosevelt fired the Admiral who complained about stationing the fleet at Pearl Harbour because in every war game a Japanese attack on the Phillipines included a surprise attack on Pearl.

You don't think Germany executed spies? the Russians, Japanese, Brits? Spies are not protected by the Geneva Convention

@@AB-mw8oz "They did atrocities so it is fine if we do it" Also, what does the geneva convention have to do with this? They where not willing combatants (at least those that gave up), they could not be treated as soldiers by law. There was literally no reason to execute them.

@@rompevuevitos222 Espionage is not protected, you are at the mercy of whoever captures you. He was claiming it was a war crime to execute the spies when there is nothing in international law that says you can't so long as they stand trial first. Rule 107 of the IHL explicitly states "Combatants who are captured while engaged in espionage do not have the right to prisoner-of-war status. They also give a very clear definition of what constitutes a spy "An individual can only be considered a spy if, acting clandestinely, or on false pretences, he obtains, or seeks to obtain information in the zone of operations of a belligerent, with the intention of communicating it to the hostile party"

@@AB-mw8oz And where does it say that they may be executed? If they are not a prisoner of war that means they should not be allowed to live? I tought we lived in a society with human beings, not beasts that execute prisoners mad-max style.
