i can defend the "blend in" with the fact that its less suspicious because you're at a post where you are expected to do a certain thing so enforcers/targets are less likely to pay attention to who you are instead of when you are moving around or are standing at random/important spots.
@SolidSnake2403 жыл бұрын

@Kai-hf5wt3 жыл бұрын
I just think that the suspicious aspect of the game really shows how creative the team was with the level design and AI. If you play the game for a while, you will notice how they try to make certain NPCs suspicious, and paths to avoid them. And it really shows when you compare normal to professional. In professional, AI is completely changed with different paths and locations of the NPCs. I really think Hitman has a charm with the advance AI, and I hope they can utilize it more in the new Goldeneye game

@oreo72593 жыл бұрын
@@jojideluxeedition1898 The reason people hated HITMAN 2 is because, yeah, it fixed the dreaded punch glitch, but it also brought a clusterfuck of other glitches along with it, guards alerted system was fucked with that game and still is fucked in HITMAN 3, also at one point you could get spotted (not by targets) and still keep SA. It took them 4 months to patch that bs. All the maps except Whittleton Creek were also fucking huge, making them hard to navigate especially with the super enforcers in Miami and Mumbai. One of the reason HITMAN 2016's maps were so loved is because they are so easy to navigate if you know them and here I am been playing H2 for over a year and can't find my way around these behemoth ass maps. More on the glitches, guards were fucked, sometimes you could either get spotted instantly or a guard would get the exclamation mark (alerted) above their head when you were holding an illegal item for 0.0001 seconds. The game had some great mechanics ruined by the glitches, shame. Another thing I feel the need to bring up is that pistols were also somewhat fucked. You could (from far away) have your crosshairs perfectly on someones head and still either hit them in the shoulder or just miss altogether, it's even worse in HITMAN 3!!!!

I think you're missing the point when it comes to the sale model of Hitman (2016). The reason the full season package sold so well was because of the hype generated by people over time from playing the game on the original release schedule. As you say, people were burned from Hitman: Absolution, and this was a way for people to mitigate the blow by doing what was essentially a slow roll out.

Hitman 2016 was the start of one of the greatest trilogy of games. Honestly no other stealth games can compete with Hitman 2016- Hitman 3 🐐
@pickyphysicsstudent2014 жыл бұрын
I think I can kind of piece together what makes a good Hitman game against what makes a bad one, from watching these videos. Stealth is very hit or miss genre and it comes down to two fundamentals: variety in ways to complete the objectives and a clear indication of being in hiding/disguise or evidently visible and thus, vulnerable. A lot of the praised mechanics are having access to items like *The Coin* to engage with the environment or the ability to use odd items or tactics on things to get a good result. A range of items which aren't easily grouped together, so that you can either strike the target when no one is looking or set up some kind of Rube Goldberg machine or something inbetween. The larger range of options which are organically intertwined with the level; the better. Being able to poison food or cut a power line's wires or to break glass for some form of crazy genius kill makes the player engage. When there is no option for this kind of stuff or if it become entirely contextual with a button prompt or an indicator, it ruins the fun. A player trying to get passed a locked door should have options. You could: pick the lock, find the key, blast it off with a firearm, axe the door open, take off the screws, get someone else to open it or go around it. That is ideal for every puzzle, in the game. As for the stealth mechanics, there should be a clear set of indications of whether you are in hiding, in the open or have been caught. Again, Variety is king and having more complexity to the later levels can be a great challenge. There should be some level of indication about which disguises will work where; i.e a chef's outfit works in the kitchen/dinning area and basic hallways but going into the underground power generator rooms with that outfit should cause an alert, if seen by a guard. Also doing things out of the ordinary or in the ordinary should increase/reduce suspicion, respectively. Not that stupid fedora tip/crotch walk thing. There should also be a way to scout ahead of going into a room then releasing its maximum restriction and will trigger an alert with 9 guards. Any challenge the player comes across should be understood by them to see what it is that they can and can't do, with some logic and basic understanding. There should be no cheep traps, which a player can fall into. The onus should be entirely on the player to figure things out. If there is a point in which the player looses because they triggered an alert phase, they couldn't have seen coming, then its back to the drawing board.

The worst mistake they made was remove any and all rewards for actually doing things clean and stealthy like in Blood Money. Now you have no reason to do it clean and stealthy because there's no reward or penalty for the way you do things apart from a score that doesn't mean anything. At least in Blood Money you have all those shiny upgrades to prove how professional you've been -- and the notoriety to prove how messy and psychotic you've been. Bigger levels and greater freedom don't mean a whole lot when there's no tangible rewards for your playstyle or level of discretion/violence.

You are not alone with the analysis that the quality of a former game in a series has a huge impact on the follow up. I read a Capcom statement, that said exactly this. The quality of a game has a huge impact on the successor. This is very noticeable with the Resident Evil series. RE4 was so good, that RE5 was an auto-success. RE5 was good enough to get RE6 to certain numbers.* The reception of RE6 not only made them reconsider the Resident Evil series, but they managed their own expectations of success. They knew RE7 had to carry itself and RE6. You showed DMC, which is another example from Capcom. I guess they have very good experience with long-running series. [...] * The growing video game market (from mid GC/PS2/Xbox to end of PS4/Xbox360) itself made higher sales numbers easier.

Recently grew to love the new Hitman games, now that I have bought three of them during a sale(well technically just Hitman 3, and the first 2 as "DLCs" which I was surprised that it was 60GB in total, when I was expecting and fearing it would be 300GB instead given how I heard the first two were that big in space). Although the online-only thing I barely notice much, maybe since now that internet is more stable, I absolutely love it, having levels really big but also easy to read(though sometimes needing a map to look), locations that are unique, and gunplay working slightly differently to still be good for combat, but also with a cool way to disarm enemies without killing them by aiming at their legs to make them trip, so you can punch them... with the bonus of ragdoll being really satisfying. Opportunities and Intel are a pretty neat way to encourage exploration along with stuffing everything in your pockets. Sometimes it can be at weird spots when trying to accomplish certain tasks, some that is easy to spot like finding fugu fish, and other times where to put it in which sushi(I figured I had to stand at a table with the sushi construction table to perform the poisoning business by briefly turning opportunities to full from minimal, but yea), which at one point had me walk into Yuki's table on accident, but at least saved by the returned "trespassing" mechanic where I'm not penalized for walking into a restricted space(I think, unless that's a thing reimplemented in 2 or 3, idk. Just that I'm being escorted out without guards immediately lighting me up... unless it's at Colorado). Oh and also with the way instinct works now, maybe just a I had lots of fun with it so far, and just already finished Hitman 1... 24 hours of content and barely scraping 10%-20% in each of the chapters. Now with the thing being online-only, it being that while being a singleplayer game is very questionable, while having it also be connected to the internet to use half of the unlocked content. Although I don't have any internet problems as of now, though maybe due in part to the internet stablizing to the covid era, but the idea of losing progress, along with mastery rewards and even event/bonus maps when servers are shut down is not a pleasant prospect to think of, especially for a game so content rich like this.

I'm really happy to see that u still upload hitman related content although it doesn't get a whole lot of views. Appreciate the effort put into the videos, keep it up.

I was a HUGE fan of Blood Money, and I've had this game (free) on Epic for years and decided to watch a review before playing it. Honestly, I can't say I want to play it anymore... there are far too many things holding it back. Hopefully a "newer" game will be free that's fixed these issues. Also, showing gameplay of Metal Arms: Glitch in the System was a fucking throwback.

I remember launch day of the game. I was confused why there was only Paris and was kind of disappointed. After my 3rd attempt, I just understood that I had just did the tip of the tip of the iceberg for that level alone and knew that the whole season would be great.

I do not always agree with you (example Hitman Absolution) but the content you create is good quality and worth watching. To you and to all people - Have a nice time gaming!

The one thing I wish was in the newest Hitman trilogy is gun customization. As well as the loadout size he mentioned.

I literally loved the Italian level so damn much that i literally played it for half a year before trying out the next level 😂❤ I also loved that they but exclusive special targets that u can't play or kill after the time runs out , i killed two of them & Gary Busey was one of them lolz
@fedoratheexplorar21434 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell being found trespassing doesnt negate Silent Assassin as long as you immediately leave But that might be with the currebt version of Hitman 2, SA rules change a lot in patches

I don't understand people's problem with the episodic nature of Hitman. I loved it. It allowed me to take my time with the locations.
@JcGross934 жыл бұрын
@@ADUSN No, I don't agree. Hitman 2 came out with all locations available at launch and I felt so pressured to go and experience all the levels, but also to take my time with them, to get to know them and complete the challenges that I'm interested in. In Hitman 1 I played a location until I got mastery lvl 20, took my time with it, got some nice toys to play with and to start with when the next location comes out.

JcGross That’s seems like a “you” problem though. I mean it does come down to preference, but I believe a consumer would rather buy a complete product instead of a incomplete one. You could still take your time in the full version, so I don’t see the issue. There’s a reason why the physical version outsold the digital incomplete version.
@sigmapopsical2722 жыл бұрын
@@JcGross93 it didn't Lets be honest, they locked levels that should of really been in the game behind pay walls
@JcGross932 жыл бұрын
@@sigmapopsical272 That's just not true though. You could buy the whole game from the get-go, and get the levels as they came out, with no additional cost, OR you could buy the new levels as they came out (but that way it did cost more overall). Or you could also wait until all levels are out and buy the complete game at once. There was no pay wall, just a time wall. Big difference!

Great video, i agreed with everything you said, the always online thing is such a pain in the ass, its actualy my major flaw with this game, and i do miss a hideout with weapons, and i would Love to see targets defending themseves in case of screwup, it would be cool, a cartel boss like Rico Delgado should be more than capable to shout you with a shotgun yelling "say hello to my little friend"

I played a few months ago I swear I remember you could carry a sniper in a breif case. Pick the case in the loadout and you can put somthing in it like a sniper or anything else.

Still wish they closed some absolution Cliff hangers. Birdie is at large and Victorias safety/health is in question. The detective "cosmo faulkner" knows too much still. Maybe they can be elusive targets
@Pegyson4 жыл бұрын
The only problem I have with the new trilogy (yes I know Hitman 3 didn't come out yet) are the elusive targets. Oh don't worry, killing them isn't an issue, but why are they there once and never again? Why not when the final elusive target leaves, it goes back to the first and goes in a loop. I'm ranting about this because I really want the explosive pen item, but because I wasn't avalible that week, bend me over and fuck me sideways because there is no way for me to get it Also what about patient zero? They set those missions as it's own campaign, but it's just done after Hitman 2016. I was expecting some kind of continuation or something so it can be called its own campaign, but I just see the missions as glorified esccalation contracts

I like the fact that you don’t know where the restricted areas are, as you play the game you quickly learn them. I do not want the game to easy. Totally agree about equipment and weapons being of no use.
@fearedjames4 жыл бұрын
Eh, I honestly never get the complaint. Where is restricted is virtually always obvious, and where it isn't, guards wont immediately suspect you if you walk into them since they just assume your a lost dumbass. (which ya kinda are)

Love the work you have put into all these Hitman retrospectives! I've been a Hitman fan since the Silent Assassin days but I'm only now playing the WoA trilogy having been so let down by Absolution. Currently halfway thru 2 and having the best time. Sidebar - Is the background music from the Tanker in MGS2?
