I also find it cool how Falcone essentially kick starts Bruce's journey to become Batman. He tells him that he'll never understand the dirt and grime lower class people have to trudge through, so (as you said) Bruce gives up his millionaire lifestyle, moves 1000 miles away, and takes on the "lifestyle" of the man who killed his parents. That lifestyle leads him to Ra's Al Ghul, where he trains to become the _thing_ Falcone can fear. And the first thing he does in the cape and cowl is show Falcone, with all his confidence and power, that there is something to fear.

Always saw parallels between the Nolan trilogy and the Raimi trilogy: Both trilogies are marked with their director's style, no studio interference (for the most part) Both trilogies told the ultimate origin story of the character Both trilogies had a second part that suprised everyone by even surpassing the first movie Both trilogies have a second part that revolves around one of the best villains ever put to film Both trilogies had a third part that, while very good, couldnt meet the insane expectations audiences had, in part because the studio kept interfering and demanding changes after the ultra success of the previous movie

"Lets pretend you dont read comics, you're a dude who only watches movies" My sister is exactly like that, she was never into marvel or dc. But once we got hbo max, she started scrolling through the dc section just for the hell of it. She was just gonna watch teen titans because it was a show that she used to watch as a kid. But i said, hey you should know who batman is before you watch robin's story. She was like, fine, i guess. We watched this movie, and i could tell the moment ra's al ghul said "no the vigilante is just a man lost, scrambling for his own identification. He can be destroyed, or locked up. But if you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they cant stop you, then you become something else entirely" i knew she was hooked. This film literally changed her perspective on the superhero genre. This film is a masterpiece. And i didnt even mention the dark knight, i wish you could see her reaction to the joker doing his magic trick or blowing up a hospital.

The Dark Knight is the movie that overshadows the rest of Nolan’s trilogy, but Batman Begins was always my favorite of them. I loved watching a movie about Bruce Wayne that felt so much more personal and relatable to the character. TDK tackles larger philosophical concepts, but that just isn’t what tends to intrigue me as much in comparison to the emotions seen in BB.
@alexandersmith70614 жыл бұрын
Same. Plus I didn’t like the philosophy parts in TDK because the dialogue was just so hard to listen to, and it didn’t even say anything about the characters. Like “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”. That’s just wrong on so many levels, and it felt so out of place in that scene
@GARY84ROCKS4 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I hate Batman Begins... but think TDK is pretty exhilarating. I can already relate to the fictional man whose parents were killed and tries to remedy that through taking control of it. So, I don't have the patience to watch something that's supposed to make me understand Bruce Wayne and relate to his motivation only to be "rewarded" halfway through with an okay "Batman" movie plot that only has one hour to pump me up.

It IS the best. The Dark Knight mainly got carried by the Joker, but the pacing is off, and from the point where Joker visits the hospital to "turn" Dent, it goes downhill, Two-Face is more a caricature or an "idea" than a character, and the movie suffers from it. I won't even deal with The Dark Knight Rises again, because it is just a mess throughout. Batman Begins is a perfect origin story and a consummate film.

Batman Begins is just...just wow. Like, even all these years later it still impresses me from a writerly standpoint. The characters, (Batman actually has an arc), the emotions, the quietly thoughtful nature of the film. It all just came together so well. Nolan's grounded and more realistic approach to the mythos helped make the humanity in the characters shine through more. While the editing in the fight scenes is...questionable, the Tumbler chase scene is still one of the coolest car chase scenes in film history. And the scene near the end where Batman turns and says, "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me." That still makes my 'nads tingle every time!
@punishedsneed4 жыл бұрын
The scene where Bale chucks the gun in the river always reminds me of the TDKR. "A gun is a liar's weapon! A coward's weapon! These are the weapons of the enemy! We do not need them! We will not use them!" You can see it in Bale. The shame he feels. The fact that his father would be ashamed of his son if he killed-if he became the same kind of monster that took him and his wife away from his son. Bale gives incredible screen presence to Bruce and matches Michael Caine in the most spectacular way. Caine's cutting, humor and disapproval is matched perfectly by Bale's levity and dry, sardonic reply to this man who, for all intents and purposes, was the only family he had after his parents died. This movie isn't perfect, but the vision behind it is. And we see that vision further refined in The Dark Knight which is why Dark Knight is one of only a handful (less than five) of movies where the sequel drastically outperforms and outdoes the original.

Just something that makes me love Batman Begins even more is I think that Batman/Bruce Wayne is such a tragic character, we get in the later movies that can never live a normal life and he's only supposed to endure what he has. A standout scene for me is near the end of the movie where Rachel talks to Bruce at Wayne Manor only to reveal to us the audience that Bruce Wayne never really came back but that Batman is now the real mask and persona of what was Bruce Wayne. I think it's such a tragic moment that Rachel and Bruce know that they can never be together unless Batman is no longer needed by Bruce and only gets more sad when you look at the next two films and how it affects on him.

Not very comparable. Batman Begins isn't the one that's blinded by nostalgia, it's those three movies. And they largely vary in quality, while Nolan's trilogy stays consistent.
@ericdxfan5114 жыл бұрын
@@bloocheeseformaboi881 Either you like a movie or you don't. "Blinded by nostalgia" is a childish insult that morons (MCU Spider-Man fans for example) throw around because they're butthurt over how much people like a movie over a movie they prefer. Let me guess, you're one of those assholes?
@johnlindsay73013 жыл бұрын
The movie transitions from Bruce turning into Batman, and that aspect of it is near flawless. When I first saw the movie at its midnight opening I was so submersed in Bruce’s narrative that when he got to the cave after his 7 year absence and the bats started to swarm around him, I proclaimed “that’s the batcave!” I had forgotten I was watching a Batman movie. And that moment brought me back to the fact I was watching a Batman movie. It was such an amazing magic trick by Nolan, to bring Bruce Wayne/Batman into a world that could be in a Scorsese or Coppola film, I’ve never experienced anything like it. What a wonderful gift Nolan delivers to his audience! Truly remarkable filmmaking.

Batman Begins is my favorite Batman movie. Of all the Batman movies, it represents the truest representation of the character. His drive, ethos, and theatrics. Ask this seemed to disappear throughout the Nolan trilogy. In the TDKR, he just appears. But in this movie, he stalks and plays with the villains and henchmen. The dock fight scene was the most Batman thing I'd ever seen in my life.

I like how he still learns new things in every movie. His character evolves and develops to become what we know as Batman. He’s not just “Batman” like in the Burton films. That’s one of the reasons people call it inaccurate to the comics, they don’t realize he’s a flawed human who has to learn with time.

I describe the Nolan Trilogy as "what if you took Batman and turned up the realism by 20-30%". A very unique alternative take. It will never top the perfect balance of _Batman: TAS_ or the _Arkham_ series, but it's definitely the best live-action theatrical chain of films we've gotten for the character thus far.

A wise man once said, "Suffering develops perseverance, to perseverance, character and to character, hope." We as a society treat suffering as something that should be avoided at all costs, but it's the one thing we all do. Suffer. We're not guaranteed happiness; not a single day, but suffering is something we all will do. It's through persevering through that suffering, that we build upon our character, stronger, and through that we become a symbol and example of hope. A hope that we too, can overcome. Great video HiTop.

I think that The Dark Knight Rises is the best Batman movie in the trilogy because it really deals with what Bruce talks about being "a symbol", and how it really is everlasting, and, like every great Batman story, rising from the literal lowest point you could possibly be at to save something/someone you care about. Not to mention that he is stripped of his money, and most of his gadgets, proving that it takes a lot more than that to be Batman
