The death from Hereditary is kinda like something that happened to one of my old teachers. Her sister was in the hospital for months with cancer and when she finally went into remission and got out, my teacher was driving her home and the sister stuck her torso out of the window of the car to feel the breeze, right when they were going under a tight bridge. The sister got basically cut in half between the side of the car and the side of the bridge support. My teacher never came back to work.

Bro that scene in hereditary hit me so hard because it is so realistic. Like when something terrible happens and you literally know there's nothing you can do to fix it, that's such a weird feeling because you have no idea what to do. You are so used to seeing people jump into action in movies and you are taught about what to do in several accidents, but nobody teaches you what to do when you can't help. So you just stand there, not knowing how to deal with the situation.

Hereditary is one of the toughest movies I've ever watched, the whole film is so uncomfortable during the whole 2 hours and something it lasts. Ari Aster is a genius.
@velhinho_912 жыл бұрын
I found Midsommar a little more disturbing actually, its always during the day, the soundtrack, the mood, the overdose of color, its like an psychological anti-horror movie or rather something ive never seen before. That director really is a genius.
@theycallmeJacko2 жыл бұрын
@@velhinho_91 Midsommar is also very very good but I found Hereditary harder to watch, maybe because of the circumstances, being that I watched Midsommar with some friends while I watched Hereditary alone, or maybe because Hereditary was more relatable/immersive. Throughout the whole movie I always felt the same sensation of understanding what they were feeling, being in the shoes of the other and it was such an awful situation to be in, it was cringe but in the good(? way. I don't know, it was very tough to watch and wouldn't watch it again! lol
@velhinho_912 жыл бұрын
@@theycallmeJacko either experience as his own, Midsommar was more impactful for me because the plot is a pagan/foreign theme, as opposed to a demonic cult schtick that we watched over and over, delivered in a way more violent way, it’s also insane and well made, just different experiences I guess.

I remember the last 20 minutes of the film being the only time I've sat and prayed for a movie to be over. The way the brother just heaves and drools because he's in such a state of panic is so intense. The familial trauma aspect is what hits deep down for me. Excellent movie

The death in Hereditary is by far the most terrifying death in any movie to me. I have a younger sister and saw this at about the same age as the person driving the car. @LoisoPondohva10 ай бұрын
There isn't really a good way to measure the forces involved, and the wire is thin enough. I've personally seen an arm sliced clean off by a snapping metal cable at least three times that thick (it was reattached, never was the same though. Happened in a shipyard). But yes, the situation in general is pretty convoluted and unbelievable, the wire could've sliced a couple of people, but not the whole crowd.

The Vivarium punishment isn't purely psychological because the houses don't have any food in them and even if they did and even if they had canned food, eventually it would go off after a couple of years and you wouldn't be able to eat it without getting botulism.
