As badly written as her arc is, the point was that she was a scared victim during the first attack and now she is the one fighting back and ironically having to use a gun to do so. This is a right-wing horror movie and I do believe it is meant to be intentionally funny. Leatherface literally tosses the one survivor from then original into a pile of trash. The bus scene is in hilariously bad taste, in that we are suppose to laugh at the fact that Leatherface is slaughtering a bunch of "woke" leftists.
@thefanwithoutaface8105
@thefanwithoutaface8105 2 жыл бұрын
Part of the point is that she needed to overcome her trauma and use a gun to defend herself. The point I think the movie is making is while guns are dangerous in some cases you'll need them to defend yourself.

Yes, that's 100% the reason, I'm sure. These movies are made by statistics, which of course the movie people don't know how to interpret. It's just "A" was successful in "X" movie, so "A" will be equally successful in all movies of the same overall genre, regardless of "A"'s relation to the plot.

you'd think a shotgun firing into a chainsaw would jam or break it soundhow by bunching through the plastic and thin metals, fucking up any gears and wiring powering the motor inside rendering it useless save for a long heavy slashing tool that'd only slow him down more then it would be effective. Like fuck, he was a butcher, we can't have him fall back on his butchering skills after the chainsaw gets fucked up. Crippled without said tool yet not entirely weakened and still very much a threat to them. Also why would he ever run away and set traps, dude tanked shotgun fire to the back like twice in that scene clearly them holding guns didn't scare him once he covered the distance. OG Leatherface or at least the two good TCM films show he's all about the pursuit, maintaining fear through his relentless and brutal methods combined with his size and strength so even when the survivors made smart decisions they were simply over-powered by him or too scared to make effective use of the tools at hand. Furthermore they all had ample time to like gtfo whereas in the original and some of the later movies the Sawyers did away with any means of escape or simply made them feel boxed in and isolated, giving the movie the feel that these people are out of their element and alone in a cruel and truly twisted situation.

The whole movie was ridiculously funny, but there were THREE things that stood out to me. One was the fact that they were getting GAS for a TESLA (maybe they didn’t have license to use the brand and the car was a “gas” one in the movie, but they could have used ANY other expensive gas car that isn’t obviously a Tesla). The second was the sledgehammer throw that should have killed the sister or gave her injury cause it sent her through the FLOOR. The third was when he was facing Lila near that hole of water, they both fell in, she got out and struggled to climb out, and he literally ROSE out of the water after her like a damn salmon 🤣

I love how this film completely missed the point of everything that made the first film good. Leatherface wasn’t the main villain, if anything it was that family that controlled and used him to Satisfy their needs. He was mostly just a grown man with a child like mind. What was also unique about the original was that Leatherface treated humans like animals in a slaughter home. The whole film was basically a statement on animal rights since the director was vegetarian

The gritty realism is gone, no atmosphere, no tension, no isolation, nor dread. Just a quippy, flashy, choppy one-liners filled generic, bargain bin slasher movie. Making Leatherface another Jason rip-off instead of a abused guard dog killer. Texas Chainsaw 3D and The Next Generations were bad, but they still understood Leatherface and did research. They also both had the original actress from the original movie.

He was abused by his parents, he was made to kill, eat and wear humans because of them. He's like a guard dog that just so happens to be abused and spoiled. He is not sympathetic nor would he try to kill everyone in the town, he's afraid of people, he keeps himself isolated from people. He wouldn't slash people is just because. He doesn't go to his victims. They go to him. This is probably my least favorite movie of the series because how much they missed the point of the series and character and claims it's the faithful sequel to the original movie.

As soon as I saw the trailer for this I could tell they were just going to turn Bubba into a Michael clone. One of the reasons why I love the original and bubba as a character so much Is bc he is different from other masked silent slashers. He has personality. He is sympathetic, he makes little noises, he is childlike and has some kind of developmental disorder so he is not this super intelligent crafty super villain, and he’s human unlike Michael who is basically immortal, can pretty much teleport, and walk around silently despite being huge, or Jason who is a zombie pretty much. Like In this he sets traps which is just not his character he probably wouldn’t even have the insight or thought to do that bc he has limited intelligence. They made him this ruthless, emotionless, unfeeling murder machine that just slashes without thought at whoever is in front of him. Like it’s literally not the same character at all.

No movie captured his personality like the first one. The reason why I love his character over any other slasher villain is because I sympathize with him, he's a big strong man with the mind of a child and his family took advantage of that and manipulated him to do despicable things. They were the real villains of the story. His family knew the implications of what they were doing, he didn't. I don't think he understood what he was doing is wrong, for him it's completely normal to butcher innocent animals in the slaughterhouse so he does the same thing with humans. I'm sure that was the whole commentary of the first film. He wants to be a useful member of the family and wants to look normal just like them. That's why he's obedient and uses people's faces, not because he's this evil monster that kills random people for no reason. In my opinion if there's no family, there's no tcm

I interpreted it the opposite way. I thought the commentary was about rich millennial Bitcoin hipsters rolling into tiny towns run by white-collar workers with well-rooted traditions and then buying houses like they're trying on clothes, with no regard for the damage done to old folks who just want to retire in peace. I thought leather face was an extremist version of "come and take it" but instead of an AR-15 and a Bud Light he wields a chainsaw. The younger sister only survives in the end because she fights back with a shotgun instead of running and hiding which is what she did when her school was being shot up in the past. I'd find this movie cathartic if I was a Conservative Texan.

The interesting thing about the old chainsaws like in Texas chainsaw massacre is that they didn't give a shit about safety. There was no throttle lock and on some models you could flick a switch to lock the trigger on full throttle so honestly he could've thrown that saw. The more insane part is that his chain is so loose that it'd probably come off and hit him and I doubt that leatherface sharpened his saw before doing this so it'd be dull and maybe even rusted.

Out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, this one frustrated me the most for the dumb choices, unlikable characters, and insultingly has great visual scenes, which was my saving grace and making this movie higher than the previous two. I wouldn't mind it if the movie was just a full-on slasher film, but they tried way too hard to incorporate story elements from the past into it, and the story was straight up garbage. Bringing in the older character just felt like they were trying to be like the new Halloween. It also didn't help that they made Leatherface overpowered like Micheal Meyers or Jason.

As a person in the Pacific Northwest, that has had to cut fire wood before winter, a chainsaw is a horrible weapon. I was always freaked out by the original TCM. After being old enough to be given the chainsaw to use...I realized it would suck to chase teens around. If it is not a straight cut, nope. Even then, it gets stuck all the time, is heavy, needs fuel and oil, and the chain breaks or slips off the bar if used incorrectly (like a bike chain)

Idk, when I was young, I was helping my dad cut wood, and the chainsaw kicked back and cut my arm and hand, only touched for an instant, and I didn't even feel it, I even said "Woah, that was close" till i looked at my hand and just saw nothing but a gushing wound on my arm/ hand. Anyhow, it shredded my glove and gave me a huge gash that needed hospitalization and a lot of stitches, it nicked my artery and if it would have gone any deeper it would have severed said artery and I would have bled to death before I got to the hospital. Idk, chainsaws might be unwieldy, but a straight cut is not required nor is the chain an issue against flesh, and they can be kind of spoopy btw I know I'm two months late, but thanks for listening if you did

The premise of older slasher movies is their human aspect, the fact that it was a regular as crazy person with not a very big supernatural presence, made them scary, realistic. This movie made me laugh so hard. The part where Leatherface made his way onto the party bus was fucking hilarious. It's an unintentional comedy. Sarah Yarkin's character had to be my least favorite. She was weirdly possessive of her sister and, of course, instantly made herself unlikeable by making fun of someone with whom she didn't see eye to eye. I couldn't be happier Leatherface killed her. The gun thing I can only chalk up to the director's own lack of understanding how an AR functions. So, yeah, it's a wonderful disaster. *What made Leatherface scary was the fact that he didn't act on his own volition. He did what he was told. The family of Leatherface were the true villains. Leatherface was more or less just a lapdog, a child trying to satisfy his family's needs. This Leatherface is way too cunning on his own to be the original.
