Hi Jeff, too bad we didn’t know about you coming to New England sooner. We live about 45 minutes from where you were at the Madeira restaurant (and we’ve eaten there many times as well) and would have enjoyed meeting up with you at the restaurant if time allowed. BTW, my Portuguese citizenship paperwork was submitted to the Portuguese officials in Lisbon last November, so now all we have to do is wait to hear back as to my obtaining Portuguese citizenship. That's is so sad that the Portugese culture is dying in America. In Toronto ( the 6ix ) Portuguese culture is alive and kicking. We are growing rapidly and we all know our roots. We have Madeira Park which I went there in the 1960s and my pops was president ( We came here in 1953 but my mother's family was in Massachusetts in 1890s. My fam is from Funchal and Canico but my great great grandfather came to Madeira in the 1790s from Braga. Although I'm Canadian I always loved my big brother, the united States of America. :)

But some people still used to eat it in Madeira. Probably folks from Alentejo who moved to Madeira. Don't forget that Madeira is a mix of the different cultures that moved to the island over the centuries. Older folks when I was young would eat açorda or a version of it because it was an easy dish to make. There was also another dish that I later found out originated from Sertã, which is the bucho. That's stuffed stomach. 😂 But you can't find it anymore. It was a homemade dish that not all families did.

Video : about Portugal. Music : Stereotypical Spanish music... You did what most people do, wich is to assume Portugal and Spain are the same country or have the same culture. As similar as they are, certain things like music and even the food are quite different from one country to another... Please, make a bigger effort to KNOW a country before you make a video about it. Yes, our food is good , but you disrespected us by putting Spanish music in the video 😬😅 Nothing against Spain or Spanish people, I quite like both of them actually, its just that they are 2 different countries and people should treat them as such! I still enjoyed watching your reviews though, cheers.

@@blazeit1010 hi Blaz, Would you agree that the culture in Madeira is similar to mainland Portugal yet the food and music maybe different? Cheers.
@blazeit10104 ай бұрын
@@easternzone7869 @easternzone7869 First thing : the cuisine and music in madeira is actually quite similar to mainland Portugal. Of course there are differences,not in cuisine and music, but appart from that, what does that have to do with Spain? You think in Madeira they play Spanish music ? Second thing : you claim that I don't have the right to educate him , well, I live in mainland Portugal , i have family in the Azores and in Madeira , so yes, I know my culture quite well. Just because the people in the video (except the channel owner) are sons of people from madeira doesn't mean they are automatically Portuguese or that they understand Portuguese culture, and that is evident given the fact that they played Spanish music 🤷🏽 They might be of Portuguese ethnicity but they don't have Portuguese nationality or a TRUE understanding of Portuguese culture . Portugal is OLDER than Spain, it must be respected and diferenciated. We fought for centuries against the Spanish and we never lost, but people keep disrespecting My country with stuff like this. It's almost the same as watching a video about ukraine and then playing russian music or watching a video about China and you play japanese music , some shit like that 🤷🏽 third : your point doesn't even make sense and I made and effort to try to understand what you actually meant but it still doesn't make sense. Explain your point.

You are taking it to seriously. They had some random instrumental music as well. I believe that they use music from some plataform and pay for it. Maybe there isn't a lot of portuguese music available on those plataforms and they can't use what they want because of copyrights.
@blazeit10104 ай бұрын
@@MariaLePen Generally speaking I don't take it that seriously, and I didnt't 😅 I was just commenting that like most people, he used Spanish music in a video about Portugal. I love Spanish people and Spain, I really do. I speak Spanish fluently and I 've been there many times... But please, then if they can't find Portuguese music don't use Spanish music, it 's just wrong and it adds to the ignorance that most people already have about Portugal (people just think or assume Portugal is a Spanish province when Portugal is in fact older than Spain).
@Hittheroadmadeira4 ай бұрын
Hey guys, first of all would like to apologize, it was never our intention to disrespect anything about our nation or any other, that said, I do understand the criticism and yes I agree. The fact is we did find this music on a platform that we use every week for our videos which is in fact royalty free, of which we still pay for. The track in question I believe was labelled as “Iberian” and I would say it would be something you’d hear frequently in modern Portuguese music, or any other genre of music, in jazz for instance. We’d like to think we have a modern twist on our style of video making, and this was more a stylistic choice than any other. We will however, be making a mental note for the future and of course as always, try not to hurt ourselves 😂 I’d like to close with 2 points. One is that I’m part South African and would cringe at a video of an influencer wanting to “put a shrimp on the barbie”, so I get it 🙏 And 2 we got bigger things to worry about because today we play France in the quarter finals 😂💪🇵🇹 Our official apologies and we hope you all stick around for what’s coming next 🤠
