Bicycle Vlog 30: ’One Year on a Bike’ - We have a difficult day and hit a wall. It takes some effort to get past that but a beautiful campsite awaits us. After exactly one year of being on the road we find ourselves in Gabala, Azerbaijan. For a few days we rest up, edit some stuff, eat and just chill out. On the road again we are getting nearer towards Baku, the capital. When we look for a camp spot at the end of the day we have to go higher up than we normally do and get rewarded with great views and the mind starts drifting...
To see, feel, smell, hear and taste everything the road has to offer will be so much different than watching a documentary or reading a book about it. Sometimes it will be difficult and most of the time fantastic. We hope you will find inspiration in our video's and maybe fuel your dreams as so many other have done for us.

Congratulations from India! Just found your videos yesterday, and couldn't stop watching. Went through almost all of them at a go! I love bicycle touring myself, and have done Turkey, Georgia and Iran. So I enjoyed seeing you in those countries, though not in the same places. Maybe a video on how your gear has served you over this year would be of interest to many. All the best for the future.

Hi Phiroze! Wow, that sounds so amazing 😊 Cool you liked the episodes from the countries you have been yourself. We hope you found some nice memories in there... That is a good idea and somewhere down the road 😉 we would like to make such a video... or two! With the time we have now and the way we want to edit our videos it has to wait a bit for the time to open up for it. The editing is fun but time consuming! All the Best

Well I found your channel a week or so ago and I have finally caught up 😀 great films great journey you guys are on.I read somewhere ( forgot if it was in comments or whatever ) that you fancy the idea of touring Africa.Well I was brought up in Kenya ,lived 10 years in South Africa and have travelled most of southern Africa.Let me tell you you guys are certainly strong enough both mentally and physically to do it 100% ! Seeing the terrain you have covered on those tourers you could certainly do Africa as well.Cario to CapeTown can be covered on tar roads now top to bottom.Of coarse seeing as you guys love the challenge 🤣 you could always do it off road too 👍 Loving your channel look forward to the next leg congrates on one year on the road. Ride Hard Ride Safe 🚴‍♂️

Hi Top Cat! Thanks so much for your encouragement 😊 That sounds like an amazing timespan to have lived there, what a special time it must have been. Africa feels like an adventure indeed is certainly on the charts for a next "big trip". We hear to get the most out of Africa the back roads are the ones to take 😉 Wishing you all the best! E&M

these obstacles are really stressful. I had to do similar things riding the tour divide. taking bags off and hiking your gear and bike on separate trips up a hiking trail or over a river. Good job not letting it get to you.

I love they way you celebrate every hurdle along the way - getting across the stream, getting up the embankment and hiking a little further up the hill to take in the views. Excellent stuff and congratulations on one year traveling. I do wonder how you find these small tracks to follow - local knowledge or some app that you can drill down to gravel routes? Keep your spirits high!
@WheelstoWander
@WheelstoWander 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, thanks 🙏 We use maps.me and also bikemap.net to create and look for routes. We often choose the white roads, sometimes it works out, sometimes not... If we're not sure we look at the sattelite map (if we have internet) to look if the road continues or eventually dissapears...

Haha, yes we definitely consider making more video's about our bikes and equipment, maybe route planning or other topics that might be interesting...
