Hi Exo, I like your newer videos, you keep getting better and more knowledgeable. I have been in to speakers over 40 years. Main bit of advice is protect your hearing. My dad has a hearing aid and both my brothers are on their way to it. (farmer and carpenter) One says he has CHS, can't hear sh*t diseise. Even with a hearing aid my dad really struggles and has to have closed captioning on to watch TV even with hearing aids. You do not want to end up like that if you love music.

So I just watched (more like binged) the entire build of this car. I used to install professionally and am impressed with your level of dedication. Curious about something... knowing what you know now, what would you have changed (if anything) about this build? I think you could have gone with an easier (but smaller) enclosure and then just trimmed it out vs. building it “into” the car. Seems like such hard work at such hard angles on your body compared to doing the same thing in a more squarish type of SUV etc. Any regrets? Keep up the great work.

Yea, like the other guys said it's not so easy to gain when you're already pushing that much air. It's just like aerodynamics in cars. The faster you go, the harder it is to go faster. Same with sound pressure level. Also, DB is not linear in the way it increases. Example, even though you're still going up 10 DB from 150 to 160 it's way more increase than going from 140 to 150.

Yeah, he would have to double his power to get just 3dB, and at the level, doubling power is LOTS of money in amps and wiring. Doubling cone area isn't a possibility. Adding cone area is, like maybe 2 more subs. But no way can he put 12 18s in there for just 3dB. At this point, you work harder towards sound deadening, box efficiency, voltage and electrical support, and tuning to squeeze what deebeez you can.

look on the sticker on the back of the driver for the frequency range, 40hz is normal for a sub, mids normally start at 45 or 50hz and goto 2->4khz

Most mids don't start at 45... Most subs will play passed 70hz depending on the setup. Why have a mid driver try and play 45hz???

45hz is where the crossover range normally begins, its the same on a home hifi and club system's, you need the crossover range so tone sweeps won't pop when the tone switches speakers upto 20khz, most hardware that deal with RMS watts goes from 20hz-20khz, the 50hz should have been 40

the stereo's headset like most hardware will be able to play 20hz->20khz, which should be in the specifications, like on headphones, and DJ gear, and pro audio rack mount hardware if you play a sweep through line in/USB, the sweep should go from the lowest hz the sub can handle upto 20khz of the tweeters without any pops and click as speaker drivers only play a set frequency range and not the full range if you have pops and click as the sweep switches speakers, you probably have a bad speaker crossover range

with the door open your freq will probably raise up a few hz. Try 42-45 with the door open. Should be louder than the 40hz with one window down

I solved the problem originally by grounding HU to amp, but now the PICO fuse must be all effed up, I'll have to either bypass it with a dab of solder, or perhaps tackle with a GLI in line. EXOcontralto heck yeah got new for around 300 bucks or so and 70 for the recon. I had it in a box that was to small for it on a audiobahn 1300hct under powering it in a single cab Silverado. It was beating almost as hard as 2 quad coil Audiobahn 15s on a 2300hct Audiobahn. The look on dudes face was priceless lol but hey thanks for the reply man keep up the videos man I love them

The bass knob is setup just like most, the only difference for connecting two amplifiers is using of two small rca splitters located in the trunk closest to the amps. Two 3ft RCA wires come off the splitters and plug into each amplifier.

Dragon51 Low end frequencies aren’t going to cause any hearing damage. Vocals will though. And they need to be really loud to keep up with 160dB of bass. Personally, I wear hearing protection when I give out demos in my own car since I’m sitting in it so long. Others cars I don’t, I want the full experience and it only last about 30-60 seconds.
