Ever since I had a spinal cord injury at 18 years old, the one thing I miss most is being able to play baseball. All the years playing , I mistakably took for granted what a gift it was to stand at the plate , concentrating on getting that perfect pitch,hear the unmistakable crack of the bat, and feeling the adrenaline rush of connecting. Cherish your every at bat moment. 👨🏼🦽⚾️🇺🇸

@lawrencemarocco81972 жыл бұрын
IIRC Babe Ruth used a bat that was 37 inches long and weighed 40 ounces. When Henry Aaron was approaching the Babe's 714 HR record, he did an interview where he was given the bat Ruth used to hit 60 in 1927. After gripping it and taking a few swings he remarked on the strength Ruth must have had to get the bat around. Also pointed out that a good two-thirds of the bat was solid hitting area because of the thickness of the barrel and handle.
@brk24333 жыл бұрын
Awesome stuff. Against MLB pitching, swinging a 35 is a death sentence. But in Bp, using that extra length and weight, the barrel does all the work. Just got to poke it there and the ball will carry. Compared to the miniature version, more control, but less pop imo. Pro’s and cons.
@jamesallen29093 жыл бұрын
It’s not a death sentence if you’re 6’7”, just for us normies. A 35” is probably the equivalent of a 31-32” for Judge
@billsmith25043 жыл бұрын

Babe Ruth..."preferred 34- to 36-inch bats throughout his career, and near the beginning, his bats were heavier than those which have ever been used in professional baseball. The heavier bats, which weighed anywhere from 38 to 54 ounces may also explain why Ruth became the first player with the ability to hit the ball as far as he did." This combined with the fact that Ruth was primarily a pitcher early on, played during the dead ball era for part of his career, and also played in stadiums much larger than those today make his career even more remarkable.
