I'm sure someone will have already said this but Baby it's Cold outside isn't as creepy as it sounds. A lady broke it down in a historical perspective on Tik Tok and it made so much sense. She said that they are flirting in the way a "good woman" would have. The woman wants to stay but she knows "proper ladies" don't spend the night with men they aren't married to. He's giving her excuses because he knows she wants to stay but she has to politely decline at least a bit so she doesn't look like a loose woman. The "what's in this drink" is a line about whether or not it's alcohol and whether that's a good enough excuse.

My favourite bit of trivia about the Steven Seagal song is that Lady Saw, the Jamaican rapper who features on it, is now a pastor. There’s a bizarre rapper-to-preacher pipeline. For those who aren't aware, Baby It's Cold Outside is not creepy at all. The idea is that the woman WANTS to spend the night with the man and they are coming up with excuses for why she should. The "what's in this drink" line is a common gag at the time wherein a character would pretend there was alcohol in their drink so they could use it as an excuse for whatever they did afterwards.

As for "Baby It's Cold Outside", I think it's more about a romantic fling, where the guy is looking for any excuse to get his girl to stay, and she's cooperating, but playing hard to get. Depends on how you look at the lyrics, but I'd say it's just very flirtatious. I honestly get annoyed when people say this about this song, because it really is just supposed to be a fun song about a guy trying to get his girl to stay longer, and seeing how she's indulging more than a little and also admitting it's cold, i doubt she wants to go as well.

"The Laughing Gnome" was definitely not from the Labyrinth Soundtrack, the songs Bowie did for that were actually good. It was a super early, non-album single Bowie did in the mid-60s and it was indeed meant to be a silly novelty song. I had a compilation CD of Bowie's early songs and I remember being obsessed with how ridiculously bad "The Laughing Gnome" was and listened to it on repeat. Also I broke up with a guy in college because he said his favorite actor was Steven Seagal.

I feel I should defend "Baby, It's Cold Outside". People always attribute the "What's in this drink" line to the male singer slipping her something, but the rest of the song implies that this is basically token resistance, meant to be a cover for breaking from the societal expectations of the time. Actually, the song implies that there actually isn't *anything* in the drink, and she's just blaming the "alcohol" for the potential scandal. The girl is *absolutely* into it and wants to get with the guy, but just as the 40s didn't have a good way for a girl to say no they also didn't have a good way to say yes. With lines like "maybe just a half a drink more", "maybe just a cigarette more", and the shared "Baby, it's cold outside" at the end you can see the implied consent between both of them.
