Definitely one of the most under-rated guitarists out there. Hizaki is by far on of the best guitarists you'll ever listen to, yet his popularity in the west is absolutely abysmal. Not because it's negative, but because people simply don't know who he is. In fact, They've only been to Canada 1 time in their whole career. I even cosplayed as Hizaki for Halloween last night in downtown Toronto surrounded by tens of thousands of people, and not a single person could identify my costume. I wish Versailles were more well-known here. I went to their only show here last November and I still can't believe just how good it was. This band is a real gem and I can not recommend them enough.

I live in Japan, he is not even know in here. (Also not Mana for ex). I play bass so I come across musicians quite often, the final result? I know much more japanese musicians that the average 25 japanese musician. Don't you think it's too much to ask for he to be known in Canada while he is not even really well known in Japan? Used to listen to Versailles A LOT in my teenage years. Now I really don't like it, musically its kinda meh for me. Liked HGP much more tbh. And for Teru I always preferred Aikaryu, those killer fast riffs.

under rated at least in the US. Have to give credit to his duo Teru . These two together are the epitome of a guitar duo. The compositions are extremely technical, and in the genre of neoclassical metal . Quick measure changes, use of sweep arpeggios' are just some highlights.
@PhoenixSplash7 жыл бұрын
Yeah Teru is pretty amazing. They might be one of the best if not the best guitar duo I've heard
@Ch3ri07 жыл бұрын
Out of the two I think Teru is the more technical player. And as a duo the best Ive heard.
@matthewarms37864 ай бұрын
@Ch3ri0 I think in terms of overall technique they are fairly similar, but they are incredibly complimentary and help fill gaps in each other's playing. Teru has better tremolo and a slightly larger stretch and doesn't need to change position as often but can get a little sloppy live, while Hizaki can string skip like Paul Gilbert and his sweeps and alternate picking are cleaner and his vibrato is world class.

I can understand if people confuse Hizaki as a woman. But when I show people visual kei artists that do not cross-dress, they mistake them for women too, it's obvious for the 99% of them. I don't understand. Men usually have male characteristics in their face so it should be obvious. I think people are just not used to see men do makeup or dress differently than the norm.
@PhoenixSplash7 жыл бұрын
Yeah...in most countries make up is seen as feminine. I agree though for most Jrockers I can tell.
@MidnightEkaki6 жыл бұрын
I am so used to seeing androgyneous men from jrock and kpop I can easily tell if they are male or female just from the face. So when people say those who look a lot like guys except for wearing a bit of makeup look like women, I'm like are you blind they are so obviously male. For Hizaki, Jasmine, Mana etc I will give you a pass lol.
@nickpastorino53705 жыл бұрын
No, some men have feminine body and facial features the same way some women have masculine physical features. This is nothing new, check out Bret Michaels and Grace Jones. Both well known American androgynous celebrities yet for some reason people are surprised gender traits can mix.

Thanks for another great video, your analyzes are damn good! Hizaki is my favorite guitarrist ever. Although Teru has an extremely good technique, the way that Hizaki can transmite those beautiful feelings through his guitar it's just perfect and amazing. I had the chance to see Jupiter live in 2015 and, beside being a awesome guitar player, he is so nice and good person. In signing autographs he was always smiling, saying "gracias" (thank you in spanish, I'm mexican lol) and giving hugs to whoever was asking. And of course I will never forget when, at the end of the live, he jumped into the audience just like a rockstar (with dress and everything xD). That day was unique also for the fact that after Jupiter it was the concert of Dir en grey lol. Hizaki is not over rated, by any means. Hizaki is amazing.He's always in the top 10, maybe even 5, in Japan. Usually the top 5 go something like this, (not in order) Hizaki, hide, Syu, Inoran, Takayoshi Ohmura. I like Ohmura a lot, and of course everyone loves hide. There are some videos out there of Syu, Inoran and Ohmura doing "battles". Hizaki is probably in the top 3, but a lot of critics blow him off because of the costuming of Versailles. Ohmura has a lot of outside recognition due to playing with Marty Friedman. Miyavi is also fairly popular. Would love to hear your opinion on any of the other top Japanese guitarist.
@PhoenixSplash7 жыл бұрын
Me and some other people discussed whether or not to do a top 10 Japanese guitarist video. I think that would be pretty cool. I see all those names being on there. Syu is a freaking technical beast. It makes me smile all of this stuff about Hizaki being all man (Grr!!) Every photo I've seen of him doing soundchecks or out and about he is dressed nothing like a man! I don't care but I think this macho guy in his private life stuff is guff and just for his female followers.

'On top of dressing up she also has an elegant picking style' ... 'some people question why he does this'. Ahahaha, nice~ when Hizaki is so convincing as a woman that you end up screwing the pronouns. xD Thank you for the video, it's great.^^ Maybe Kamijo next?

Ha ha yeah I remember seeing that mistake after the video was uploaded and surprised no one pointed it out lol Yeah Kamijo is in the works for one as well :)
