I was basically writing what he was saying, in case this is useful to anyone: The tariff increases price of imports from P1 to P2. As imports increase, quantity supplied domestically from Q1 to Q3. domestic Quantity demand has decreases from Q2 to Q4. AS a result import has shrunk from Q2-Q1 to Q4-Q3. First point: Import has fallen, Domestic production has increased as the price increase domestic supply increase from P1 to P2. Price have increased P1 to P2 The govt revenue=(P2-P1)(Q3-Q2) Talk about advantages Imposition of tariffs has a number of advantages Decrease current account deficit,( increases Agregate Demand + Increase Y), decrease in govt budget deficit, protect small businesses, decrease in domestic unemployment. NEED TO FIND EVIDENCE FROM ARTICLE Current account deficit means that the value of imports is greater than the value of exports. By imposing a tariff and reducing the volume of imports the current account deficit decrease This leads to second point Import decreases, agregate demand increases, AD = consumption+investment+govt spending+ exports - imports. If inputs get smaller AD will increase leading to a shift of the AD to the right increasing output. (150-200) Third point: Refers to case where govt revenue is less that govt spending and tariffs provide a source of income for the govt. 4th point: tariffs gives them time for their economies to scale in order to compete with foreign firms. 5th point, as a resut of protecting firms, this is going to reduce domestic unemployment. Try to find evidence Next paragraph: Disadvantages 1st: Retaliation (revenge(trade war)). When a country imposes a tariff on a country, the other country retaliates by also imposing tariffs on the first country. This reduces exports for both countries. If a country retailates then the Increasing AD and reducing current account deficit will not exist because exports are also decreasing 2nd: Higher priice levels.Higher price levels will harm retailers who sell imported goods. 3rd: Loss of efficiency: Domestic production increases, foreign production decreases, however it is during this process more efficient world producers will be replaced by domestic produces/market. This leads to efficiency loss. 4th Consumer surplus loss: Price level of good increases, less of it is demanded, this results in loss of consumer surplus 5th consumer choice: Less imports in a country consumer loss decreases 6th: Technological advancement, as import of a country decreases, domestic firms are less exposed to technolotically advanced foreign firms and this will reduce the overall technolotical advancemnt from the country. (200-300 words) FIND EVIDENCE Conclusion: A tariff reduces unemployment and current account deficit, however on the long run thiis will usually lead to a trade war and lead to efficiency loss across the world. Therefore tariff is not a feesible long run solution. Adapt to article

something i want to add on is that tariffs inhibit free trade, so all advantages of free trade are not as prominent as they would be in an economy without protectionist measures.

+Senior Pages Just draw whichever one is related to your article. If you don't have an imposition or removal of a tariff in your article, no point in making tariff diagram. This man recommended getting a tarriff article because it is the easiest of the Intl economics diagrams.
