You shouldn't judge music by its title, but for the music itself... I'm a 24 year old former baritone player who stopped playing because our conductor stuck to same typ of titles, instead of going for something experimental every once and a while. Give me Baba Yetu and i'll be back in the orchestra the very next second ;)

We have done game music in the past, and Baba Yetu is on my list of things to consider for the future (in another arrangement than this one). And if one of my students come with a suggestion, I will consider it very carefully, and maybe even arrange it myself, if I can't find a good arrangement of it. (When I say we play "all kinds of things", that's something I really try to do. We've played early music, baroque, classical, typical wind band music, contemporary "weird" music, film music, game music, world music, pop, rock, hard rock, jazz, funk, blues, hip hop, dance, ... we've even sung and done body percussion.) So give me a "Highlights from Zelda" or whatever (sorry, I'm showing my age here - Zelda was the first thing that came to mind when I wanted an example of good game music that I'd love to play - you can replace it with the game of your choice), that treats the music with the same respect you'd give a respected musical, and I'll be happy. "Epic Gaming Themes" doesn't sound like it's written by someone who cares.

@@RikardPeterson To be fair, "epic" is a good descriptor of the games themselves by definition of the word, not necessarily by the connotation. It's not meant to mean 'cool', more so just the genre of the game as an epic. I will say that the inclusion of anime themes really detracts from the purpose of the piece, though. It does, as you say, suggest that the composer was attempting at a 'hip with the kids' approach.

I feel you. At the start of the pandemic my high school band was supposed to participate in the 2020 WorldStrides festival in Virginia (not with this piece I’m just listening around). The year after that would’ve been my last year and I would’ve given it my all in band to make some great memories. Never got that chance, and college band just isn’t the same.
