can take 12 of the Waveform 10watt led bulbs....make an array with 6 bulbs on each side in parallel formation separated by about oh 4 inches....where i have 3 of the 6,500k and 3 of the 2,700k staggered on one side, and then of course 3 of the 95+ CRI 6500k pure sunlight kelvin and 3 of the 2,700k 95+ CRI 10watt led bulbs staggered on the other side. 12 bulbs in total....all of them 95+ CRI certified R90 or better. And i will grow circles around all of you....muwahaahaahaha!!!!

The effects of a 95+ CRI index in 6500k and 2,700k in 95+ CRI index....are quite simply....Astonishing.

Took me a while to determine the efficacy of the PAR value and spectrum the plants were getting. I found out that a Par rating of 1,000 with an led array consisting of leds with a CRI index of 80 or below, were FAR LESS effective in growing plants of EVERY kind. Compared to the same led grow light with LESS wattage and just 95+ CRI index diodes on it. And that is the truth. I'm a houndog. And yes i had to dig for that one.
@dr.davidbannerf.e.s.6217
@dr.davidbannerf.e.s.6217 Жыл бұрын
In fact, the PAR efficacy is directly proportional to the CRI index rating for the diode array in the Grow light. Even with WAY less wattage and built with less diodes, a full 95+ CRI rated board will grow pants way way better still. No doubt about it, hands down it will grow plants better And healthier.

Great review. Given the high amount of red in the spectrum, the Diablo X is geared toward flowering rooms/tents. HLG said they created this spectrum for growers that wanted a bit more red and less blue since HLG spectrums tend to be strong in the blues. Both Scorpion models are quite efficient due to the thick blues in the Diablo and the tall reds in the Diablo X.

I don't know how much light these reflectors actually reflect the light, but with corners at 490 mms I wouldn't want any of the light reflected away from the outside edge. I think maybe this light should be raised just a little bit.

@DiegoMorales-jh1qi
@DiegoMorales-jh1qi Жыл бұрын
It's just a matter of rising it up a bit further until the spread is as even as possible... Nowhere in the vid says that the maximum/ideal/better spread output is going to be the same... I would take this over ANY modern bar style light that only produces decent numbers on really close distances, with a SHIT penetration of the canopy, because it just doesn't perform as good when you add distance... QBs, specially good ones, are pretty good at putting decent numbers of PAR on deeper than a half foot deep canopy....
@Just___me_
@Just___me_ Жыл бұрын
@@DiegoMorales-jh1qi I hear what you're saying. Raising the up to where the center is at 1200 will help the outside a little. It still won't be very good. It would be even better in a 4x4 tent. My point is that these companies build a light and then advertise it for a specific size grow space, in this case a 5x5, then it gets what I see as lousy outside border coverage. Most grow spaces that people use are standard sizes. Why can't someone design a light for these specific sizes that will actually give a consistent spread for that area. I would call an acceptable coverage spread being 1200 center and no less than 850 in the corners. I would buy that light.

@gokuzawa268
@gokuzawa268 Жыл бұрын
@@freedom_born I understand your point of view but disagree. In our modern days, sadly, everybody's copying everybody, some hides it better than others. Also Lumatek has never done (as far as I know) a LED light with a ballast, so I don't see a copy here. But copycat or not, not testing a cheap light is taking a chance that people will buy it. Shane has tested some pretty crappy lights and said they are crappy, so the customer knows. The reason I asked about this light is that the price in insanly low in Europe compared to others, half the price of chinese brands like SF ou HM, 3 times less than european brands. Also using a ballast instead of a driver is kind of a curiosity and bring out questions about longevity wich an expert like Shane would be trusted to answer.
@freedom_born
@freedom_born Жыл бұрын
@Goku Zawa I understand what you mean. But the company doesn’t even say what diodes they use. One website says Pioneer, another says they use their own in-house diodes. That’s a major red flag when the company itself can’t even give their specs. Besides which, Lumii is indeed a knock off Lumatek & Photontek brand, irrespective whether Shane’s tested crappy lights before. I’d say those tests were only done as comparison tests and not stand alone tests. Essentially Shane won’t review an absolute no name brand, but will test brands that are relatively known. It’s like asking him to test brands like Sonlipo, Szhlux, Phlizon, FECiDA, etc… So in conclusion, Shane prob won’t ever test Lumii unless they send him one. Cos he likely won’t request one to be sent - and even if they do send one, he prob won’t dow stand alone test and review anyway.
@freedom_born
@freedom_born Жыл бұрын
@Goku Zawa I mean don’t get me wrong, sorry if i seemed like an asshole earlier. I understand your frustration and curiosity, and realize you prob need validation or satisfaction for your purchase(s). But if you’ve got old ballasts lying around, and can utilize them, that’s a real bonus. Not to mention the price range too. The PAR coverage where the S.A. guy measures without Mylar is about 1100 avg for the center. Ofc there’s a huge drop off to about 100 avg for the corners, but the center reading should indicate a predictable avg as the coverage spreads out. So prob 600-700 corner/side avg. Those are still good readings regardless. So don’t worry too much, even the Lumatek ballasts aren’t that reliable either - and Lumatek is a reputable brand by industry standards.

Man you added more watts and you’re using 2 lights which would make the spread better… of course it’s better than 1 light with less watts… that’d didn’t mean it’s actually better than HLG… And I hate to to burst your bubble but you’ll probably not get 4lbs from a 4x4 running 600 watts…

Im just at the end of a grow, done with the mars fce 4800 it's done really well and on about 85-90% compared to my hlg 550 rspec but in my other tent I'm just running 2x sp 250s and about to put a sp3000 on the middle all on about 85%, I've found mars par maps among some of the best.

I have a question, what is your opinion on the following statement by scynceled: But wait a minute….a plant is not a flat surface. So why do we use these sensors? Mainly because there are really not any other options. Licor makes a spherical quantum sensor ( LI-193 ) that is designed to measure underwater light and looks promising for use in horticulture, but hasn’t been fully tested or vetted out in this application just yet. According to Licor this sensor measures, “Photosynthetic Photon Flux Fluence Rate (PPFFR) or Quantum Scalar Irradiance. This is important, for example, when studying phytoplankton, which utilize radiation from all directions for photosynthesis.” The last time we checked, plants utilize radiation from all directions as well. Let’s bring the conversation back to what this means to those of us today that need to measure light energy at our grow facilities. Most meters measure light from about an 80° cone ( +/- 40°) which works great in 99% of applications, specifically those with HID/HPS and bare LEDs. Scynce’s lights fall into the 1% category where traditional light meters don’t tell the whole story. The image to the left demonstrates how a light sensor captures energy emitted under a 40° angle. Most of the lights Scynce makes use a 120° full width secondary optic that emits light at 60° in each direction. That means that 70% of the light emitted from a Scynce light is unable to be captured by a hand-held light meter accurately. scynceled.com/blog/how-much-light-is-your-plant-really-getting/

Looks like an awesome light! Love the idea of the reflectors as well, especially for an open footprint setup. 👍 Looks like, from the PPFD map that the reflectors make it a much better choice for a 4x4 footprint than a 5x5 though. Would be interesting to see a test in a 4x4 with reflective walls to see how much the built in reflectors actually direct the light down vs out to the sides/reflection off the walls. 🤔
