@@Lobster_Juice Class of 09 here, don't make the mistake I made, I went idle for 10 ish years and it's been 13 years (christ im old...) since I played brass regularly (I do play guitar). Make a practice list, stay in practice, join a DCI or DCA corp, community band anything. I can play almost as good as I once did now but I regret having gone idle in the first place.

We played this last year. I’m not sure why we played sleigh ride this year instead but each time we played this at the city parade the nostalgia would hit us all like a train. Seeing all the kids on the side of the street dancing and jumping up and down in pure joy when we crossed was enough to bring me to tears 🥹

The first time I ever touched a snare was this year during band camp, and now, 6 months later, this is really fun and EXACTLY the right level (if I didn't have to memorize it) and this is honestly super fun with the unique rhythms and drum cadences. If you are talking concert band playing snare for the first time, assuming it was your first instrument and the earliest you could play it, I'm surprised they had you play it bc I'm in Jr. High and they have us just play solid eighth notes in concert band but this in marching band. If you are or were in marching band, this is a nice piece. If you see this, where are you now?
