This definition is wrong. In fact, Psycholinguistics studies relationship between language and human mind, and not human brain. That is area of Neurolinguistics.
@HM-English11 ай бұрын
psycholinguistics, both the brain and the mind are integral to understanding language. The brain is the physical basis for these processes, while the mind encompasses the cognitive and psychological aspects of language use and understanding. This field seeks to understand how the brain (the physical organ) enables the mind (the realm of thoughts and cognition) to process and produce language.

You wrote "...while the mind encompasses the cognitive and psychological aspects of language use and understanding." That is the central point of thought in 'psycholinguistics'. That is what distinguishes 'psycholinguistics' (you wrote: 'enables the mind (the realm of thoughts and cognition)" from 'Neurolinguistics' (how the brain (the physical organ). There are two points or shades of ideas you are talking about. Undoubtedly, both compliment each other, yet there is a subtle difference between 'psycholinguistics' and 'Neurolinguistics'. We should not generalize the definition of 'psycholinguistics'. We should be more specific. In brief, 'psycholinguistics' explores the relationship between the human mind and language. It regards language as a product of human mind. On the other hand, 'Neurolinguistics' examines the relationship between brain mechanisms (the physical organ) and language. [Note: I do not negate you but wish to impress upon you that the subtle and thin difference between 'psycholinguistics' and 'Neurolinguistics' must be made clear. We should not mix up both ideas together to create a sort of confusion. Thanks
