I’m a huge Novelists fan and while this doesn’t sound a whole lot like “Novelists”, I really think this is a great track. It seems the boys are taking this vocalist change as an opportunity to evolve their sound; as they should. I disagree with the BMTH comparison, but that’s just me. Give it a few more listens, it’s definitely a grower

I think this is a great song for these guys to put out with a new vocalist. Everybody who has been a novelists fan always talks about how great their first two albums are but they never really blew up from it. Then they released C’est la Vie this year and it fell flat with a lot of people. It seemed like they were stagnating as a band and the band themselves publicly stated they weren’t happy with the album. Then their lead vocalist who was rather unique in the scene abandons ship. Things weren’t looking good for them, but they got a talented vocalist from a popular band that had also disbanded and they went for a sound that still has their own novelists flair to it (the solo) but also incorporates the trending sound that is coming up in the scene (the BMTH synth type sounds if you will) and it’s obvious it’s working as this song has picked up more traction than just about anything they’ve put out, especially anything from their most recent album. So it was a smart decision overall. I also personally really like this song but I am a bit biased towards Tobias’ vocals as alazka was one of my favorite bands ever.

I actually really liked this song. Got a lot of cool elements and I was a fan of Alazka so I like the singers voice. But I can understand why some would find the change off-putting. I don`t think they sound like bmth at all...

@@devondorr8212 I don't know why people think that bands making similar sounding music is bad. That's how genres happen. Metal people love genres. It's just a meme at this point to compare every song that is vaguely metalcore with a few electronics in it to bmth and has lost all meaning.

@@tombuchborn Well, technically yes. But I mean they shouldn't simply do so by assigning one genres to one part of the song. I really like the electronic parts of this song, and the breakdown and solo are sick. But they just felt forced together without proper set up. So to me this song felt like a demo of what the band is about rather than a well thought out song.

I've been a Novelists fan for a while, they're quite diverse even in their older stuff where you have heavy songs with banging breakdowns (Muchos Touché for example) but also softer ones like The Light, The Fire. Personally, I really like this. The chorus pops and well.....DAT BREAKDOWN!!!

As a huge Novelist FR fan, the news that Matteo had left really worried me, but, when i heard this song, yeah it wasnt 100% Novelist-esque, but with a new singer, the band has to adapt and evolve, and i liked the experimentation in this song aswell, so, im excited to hear some more, and i disagree with the BMTH comment aswell, not all bands that have synth in are BMTH, they arent the first band to have synth in their songs, plus BMTH havent released a good song since Suicide Season anyways, cliche i know, but to me its true lol

So my general thought for it, is that as a song itself, its good. I dig it. As a Novelists song, meh. Its soooo different from everything else from them it was almost a bit jarring. I do like Alazka and I don't have anything against Tobias, he's a great vocalist, I just prefer their previous style of guitars with Matteo's voice. It was just so special to me. They really crafted a very unique and distinct sound imo, so it is a bit hard to enjoy it as a Novelists song. Although I can't fault them for changing it up since they do have a new vocalist so why not right?

Honestly the bmth comparison is stupid. it’s only synthesizers man... Good song by the way.

I feel like Novelists reached their peak with Noir. That album was insanely good. C'est La Vie was okay, but I actually forget it exists sometimes. Nothing against the new vocalist, but this band just feels like they are missing something, they were missing it on their last album, and they haven't found it yet...

The first albums are too good I would say. There are some defo good songs in C'est La Vie, but more in Noir and Souvenirs

I do like this song but it’s certainly far from the song of the year. Cough cough Haken.
