I finally have the guts to listen to the first short story after a week of staying at the hospital for COVID-19! My experience in the hospital with COVID-19 is similar to the story. I was room with another elder Mexican lady, but we has a curtain in between to block us from seeing each other. Although, I thought I was sick 😷 with pneumonia from COVID-19, I felt that the older Mexican lady was more sick bc she a lot older and her body might not be strong enough to fight off the virus. While my stay there, even though I can't see her I noticed condition got worse after a few days. She was having difficulty breathing and her oxygen saturation level drop down to 85-75, so the doctors have decided to move her to ICU care. I was scared for her and myself bc I didn't want to end up like that. As they wheel her away, that was the last time I saw her. Now, after a few weeks and back home, I still think of the elder Mexican lady. I hope she made it alive from the hospital! 🙏🙏 COVID-19 is no joke and thank you Leng for sharing these stories with us!! ❤

I enjoy listening to your stories so much. Other Hmong stories are the same, but yours are so unique. Hmong people believe that if you torture animals they will reincarnate to punish you.

This is my last year in high school and I am wondering what to do. I would like to know what you went through to be a nurse
@LENGVANG3 жыл бұрын
The moment you go to college, that first semester, talk to a counselor that you want to be a nurse. The counselor will advise you about the required classes that you need to take and go from there. If you start early, you can become a nurse at 24 years old and make more money than most adults.

Meng, I have a question. Why do Hmong people afraid to take their COVID victim to the hospital?
@jasmineflower71153 жыл бұрын
Because everyone who’s goes there doesn’t come back 🤷🏼♀️
@LENGVANG3 жыл бұрын
We Hmong tend to look at medical treatment as the last resort. And sometimes when we finally decided to seek medical help, our problem is already big and/or irreversible. This is the path that many of our ppl take 1. Hmong herbs 2. Religious belief 3. Medical treatments. For most ppl, Covid is very mild. But those that needs hospitalization are more severe. Honestly, I don’t see a lot of Covid patients getting better and going home. Like Jasmine said, they go and they don’t come back.

Also, because of strict quarantine rules in the hospitals, older people cannot have visitors, and cannot understand English, so they are even more scared because of the language barrier.
