When I was 16 I spent 2 years here on d wing the footage from the drone zoomed straight in on my old pad I'm a totally different person now but I have such good memories of this place. At the time I was sad to leave lol

From the drone footage: Outside the YOI (or whatever they call it now) towards where you were, there were huts for the Area Manager's Office and the Works Dept. They're a really nice set of people in the Wetherby Area Manager's Office. Wetherby has / had 2 active gates. The main gate where you were and a gate to the left of that's used for deliveries and as a contractor's entrance at various periods on and off over the last 20 years. The admin block is the white set of buildings closest to the 2 gates. The main Education centre is behind admin in the higher building. The buildings in a square that you initially wondered if they were part of the prison (institute) are residential blocks. Behind that there's a funny little internal stores building. The football pitch is for the Young Offenders to use. You must have visited outside of normal office hours as the car park was nearly empty instead of being completely full up. And there were no young offenders nor staff walking around.

The part of the prison with the pond for the ducks & stuff is Keppel I know from experience of been in there for a year (not keppel but on b-wing (benbow induction wing and C-wing your permanent wing

Spent a few weeks in Weatherby in1990 , the local young offenders prison for me the feared hmpyoi hindley was full [thank god ] and I was sent to weatherby , out of all my prison experiences this was the best ,it was a well run place with lots of time out of the cell ect. and as I was the only one in the place for quite some time who presented with drug withdrawal [it was rare for young people to be addicted to opiates back then ] , I was treated for this better than later on at Walton [ in liverpool ] where you woould get crappy Zopiclone for a couple of nights , yes I have to be kind of grateful to Weatherby as many experiences of hmpyoi are negative even traumatic .

it's a young offenders you book a visit it's 15 - 18's it doesn t need too have a reception?,there'll be a waiting room then a visitor searching area,,using a drone to look into a minors institute is strange to say the least.

The actual GeoZone actually covers the whole main road (use Altitude Angel) including where you was stood. You should update your drone maps before you take off.
