Bob Hawkins says at the end, that it’s probably the last time he serves on a ship this size, back to the small ship navy. He was on HMS Queen Elizabeth on her maiden voyage.

His view on women at sea stopped him ever getting that small ship command or making it past a 3 ringer, real shame. RIP Bob, fair winds and following seas shipmate 🏴⚓️

Life at sea, loved it. Gibraltar ran up that Rock one Sunday morning whilst onboard HMS Cornwall complete with hangover, when I was drafted there in 76 - 77, at the naval hospital, never went anywhere near the top and RNH was halfway up the Rock the Horseshoe wonderful drinking establishment..

Recognised Hawkins’ boys immediately - they’re the double of him. So nice seeing the homecomings of our armed forces - seeing the kids and wives/husbands so happy.

Captain Nick Cooke-Priest OBE, who was sacked from his role as Commanding Officer of HMS Queen Elizabeth Former military commanders have criticised the Royal Navy's decision to sack the captain of the UK's most famous aircraft carrier for 'using his official car at weekends'.

I’ve never been in the military but surely having a rating standing there behind the officers, taking all their buffoonary in just adds fuel to the fire of resentment between the ratings and the officers??

Captain giving Cooke Priest a glowing report but we all know he’s a complete tool using the ships car as his family’s personal transport and getting sacked off the Queen Elizabeth carrier. Think he works for a defence company now a good job for boys

Not the first senior officer in recent years to be caught out thinking the rules don't apply to them...more than likely a blind eye would have been turned in years gone by.

The difference between officers and able rate bred resentment. Not conducive for a team work ethos. The privilege is the additional pay, not being pampered and looked after. Food should be standard across the board.

The disgusting level of privilege that officers enjoy on board was for me the worst aspect of life on board. Im sure they can fill their own plate and pour their own wine.

Did you have no inkling of this beforehand . I mean , christ , this is the Royal Navy . I can see how it would be annoying but that's the life you sign up for.

Yup and it's that sense of entitlement that got the young helicopter pilot removed from command of the queen Elizabeth years later for using his staff car for non mod business on multiple occasions.
