To all of you who have expressed your kind support for Olha and for Ukraine in these terrible times huge, huge thank you from Olha and me, from the bottom of our hearts! Your support, your kind words mean a very great deal to her - and to me as her husband. At the moment, I am sure you will understand, she is in no condition to answer all of you, but I am reading her the comments and she is deeply touched. Truly heartfelt Thank You to all of you for your support! No words of mine can express just how much it means to her!

To Olha and you, Kroum! I am deeply touched of what happens to Ukrainian people, but I am glad you are not there (maybe it sounds a bit selfish). I hope everything will finish soon and we will live again normally, building navy models in peace and tranquility. I am proud of the reactions of Romanian people who consider Ukrainians as their brothers and help them in all ways. We stand together, be strong!

To say I was impressed with your last video.... I was highly highly impressed. I have built a couple model boats, some R/C boats... I have some idea, the amount of work, it took, to re-plank that hull.... omg. Gives me a headache just thinking about it. I doubt the casual viewer, has any idea.... It hurt my head to watch... the patience... The wounds on your hands, healing up, over time... Day after day, you gotta get out of bed, and say "Yeah, time to put more planks on that hull!!!" I don't know how you do it... I am impressed.... To say that that was the finest hull planking job I have ever seen on a model ship.... I am not joking. That was amazing. Amazing. And now you're going to put copper over it???? I think I'm going to cry..... Well, probably not... But, knowing myself, I know what I would have done.... I would NOT have tried so hard, knowing that copper was going right over it anyways...... I'm trying to say, I don't know how you do it. You have a lot of dedication inside of you. You are very impressive.... Your work is unbelievable. And in these troubling times, please know we are ALL pulling for you. All of us. I wish you the best.

You can do it! Although this model is positioned by the manufacturer as an intermediate skill level, it is much easier to build than some kits designed for beginners. Because there is a misconception that the smaller the model, the easier it is to build. Counting only the number of details and not technological aspects. It is sometimes ten times more difficult to really glue a plank on a small boat than on such a ship...

Beautiful build. I love the look of the copper bottoms on ships. I am not sure that I am a fan of the thicker copper that Amati uses but I am not seeing the ship in person, only with the harsher lighting for the camera that picks out all the reflections and makes them stand out. I have only had experience with the copper foil tape that Model-Shipways uses. It is more work, being thinner and harder to get correct, but does not have the same "chunkiness" as the thicker plates seem to have. Keep these great videos coming and I wish I had the same level of skill as you do!
@sidekickbob72272 жыл бұрын
Agree with the thickness issue. This model is 1:64. The copper sheet looks like 0.5 or 0.3mm by the handeling. If 0.5, it scales to 32mm thickness, way too thick for the real deal. But I really enjoyed watching this build, and Im sure the result will be magnificent as always.

the copper sheeting needs to be thinner then the material used, as the edges are visible on the stern end of each plate, it's thickness is visible. Looking at the full size ship the exposed edges are not noticeable. Having said that, the application was flawless and is a great credit to her skill.
@OlhaBatchvarov2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right - the plates should be thinner at this scale. But this is a kit that depends on production capacity. These are laser cut sheets and manufacturer simply cannot use thinner copper...

I am absolutlyy fascinated watching you build this beautiful ship, however when plating a hull using tiles. I am sure that you should start at the keel and work upwards towards the deck, so that the overlap of the tiles would be at the bottom of the plates and face down, so as to prevent water ingress. 😮💨
@OlhaBatchvarov2 жыл бұрын
Actually, in real practice was the opposite. The evidence from contemporary coppered models, including, but no limited to Bellona, it is done this way. I did it this way following the example of the late 18-th century models. I see your point though and took quite a bit of time to decide how yo copper the model.
