HO Scale OPS: Union Pacific SD40s 'N the Park 2

Today we have part two of this three part set. Picking up where we left off last Sunday, the SD40Ns were handling this job as good as any of the Geeps we usually have working in the Park. Plus their combined pulling power, these units are at home on locals and switching jobs or on the road hauling freight. Very good working and versatile pair of 40s, Athearn did a really nice job with them.
Part three will be around the length of the first two, for a total length of over an hour's worth of video. Though my computer can handle these larger videos, one that's over an hour long would be a bit much for it to handle and I don't even want to think about how long it would take to upload it. For whatever reason, my upload speeds are really slow. These 20-22 minute long vids take on average 4-5 hours to upload. bleh...
I'll be taking an overnight trip up to Des Moines, IA next weekend like I did last year to visit the Central Iowa Railroad Club on the state fairgrounds. Then in three weeks I'll be going back for the weekend again for their open house during the state fair. So in the coming later part of August or early September I'll have video from there. Also filmed an HO layout yesterday that is set in 1895. So be on the lookout for that coming later in August too.

Where's that rust bucket what they call a shoving platform? I'm tempted to buy a Blue box bay window caboose (ex RI ) and go from their. UP has a SP caboose in UP colors that is used in and around Salt Lake plus several CA-11s. I think an old weathered, graffiti, faded paint with DCC would be a nice compliment to the SD40Ns. This is one Great video! SD40Ns and a lot of switching, I couldn't ask for anything else! Can't wait until the next ones!

Outside of F-units, the stock GM SD40-2 is the most beautiful freight locomotive built, IMHO. But, those Snoot Noses grow on you. What is within the nose of a hood unit and, when U.P. rebuilt these, why was the nose extended?

Great video as always Jason, yesterday I ran on the nicest layout I have ever seen. Next time I go I'll make sure to chase a train all the way through, it takes over an hour to go all the way through.

I'm not a rail hobbyist; the video did indeed provide a very realistic layout and yard switching distribution. The video height and depth were very good. The town portion of the layout looks like 'squeaky clean' town ~ lol. Place some old railroad ties, pallets, trash cans, etc. around yards, warehouse lots, and along tracks to add more realism. The railcars that were weathered looked great! Very entertaining video Railfan Jason.
