For almost four decades, the Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club and Historical Society, Inc. have been bringing the fun and historical perspective of model railroading to the Treasure Coast. In 1975 three model railroaders in Vero Beach determined that there was interest in forming a Model Railroad Club. The Club thus had its beginning with this nucleus of interested hobbyists. The Treasure Coast Model Railroad Club declared itself as an actual organization on September 2, 1975.
The railroad is modeled during the transition era between steam and diesel power of US railroads, which occurred between the 1940's to the 1970's. It is HO scale (1:87), utilizing a Digitrax DCC control system.
Layout has two major freight yards, 2 city passenger stations, several industrial complexes, a freight harbor, steel mill and a coal mine. In addition, there are three cities, several towns, lakes, mountains and a desert.
Many of the structures are lit as are signs, street lights, railroad crossings, and even vehicular traffic lights!
Address - 273 SW Becker Road, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34953

It is great to see the club still operational. I was in the club from 1980 to 1993 and built the clubhouse layouts and clubhouse at the old fairgrounds in Ft Pierce. Obviously the firehouse was a great opportunity to get a home long term. Layout looks great.

Fascinating. Not my hobby but fun to watch. Outsider question; in this and other like videos I always see single engine trains. In real life the majority are2, 3 or more power units in tandem. Why not with HO models? Do the engines have slightly different speeds that are not easily synced? Love of railroads came from growing up with a grandfather, born in 1890 who worked on the C, B & Q and the D & R-G in Colorado and Wyoming in the very early 1900's. I have an incredible photo of him and his work mate standing on their repair car, It had a small shed on one end for living. He talked about spending weeks in that shed stranded out on the Wyoming Prairie during an extended blizzard. When I was a boy he would drive me to the nearest rail station to watch the trains go by. Great memories.

"The railroad is modeled during the transition era between steam and diesel power of US railroads, which occurred between the 1940's to the 1970's." I think the push-pull commuter train and the CSX equipment pretty much dispelled that idea.

@@thomasboese3793 Hi Thomas. Your answer is spot-on. But do you know if the RRs of yesteryear shared motive power like they do today. I'm a long-time modeler, but never thought of this before. Just wondering if you know??? Thanks.
@thomasboese3793
@thomasboese3793 4 жыл бұрын
@@thomream1888 It all depends on the era and the railroad, so you will need to hit the library hard. {Lots of pictures to look at.} I have heard that the motive power of the DM&IR went south for the winter when the iron ore stopped moving and came back up north with the snowmelt in the days of big steam power. You could search www.rrpicturearchives.net for your railroad in question and look at the thumbnails to see if foreign-power was also used. The limits here are if no-one took a photo or didn't post one they did, did it happen or not? Happy hunting!

Shame about the limited nature of this video. Yes, you showed the trains running, but I never really got an overall impression of the design and track layout, or a close look at the scenery details. Modellers spend the vast majority of their time on scenery, and to ignore it because you get distracted by moving trains is doing them a disservice.

I must praise the camera man who managed to film all trains so jt was impossible to see if there were any passengers or train crew on board any of these trains. This side of the modelling always lets the side down, so the models may be fantastic, but the realism leaves a lot to be desired. People everywhere except on any of the ghost trains. So not nearly as good as you thought you were eh? From a retired train driver.

Looks like a great layout. Why didn't you put the uncoupling magnets under the track so they didn't show? The reason I don't have any sound in any of my locos is the fact that the engine 2106 sounds like a steamer to me...Love the turn table and round house. Wish I had the room.. Wow beautiful "everything" at the 3:06 time.. Do you need any more "Rock Island" engines as I have one like the 433 and a new "F" unit that I can not use. They have the guts for DCC running and have the "keep alive" parts??.
