Thanks, and yeah, not about to take a passenger train through a yard at a high rate of speed.. I mean after all.... millions would die in the crash and then there'd be countless lawsuits and all the damaged equipment and then there's the clean up and repairs. Just one giant headache. :D haha... seriously though, yeah, I designed it to be operated, so it can be fun at times. Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks John. I don't have the list with me, but if I recall, the tail car is the Cheyenne, and I think one of the others is the Salina. I'll have to find the list to verify though.

Love the realistic layout. Broken rail ties tossed to the side. Weed infested half dried out creek bed. Weathered and probably termite ridden wood at the grade crossing. Parched grass. Oil coated rocks. Just like the real world. Only thing missing is that the train headlights do not flash alternating as it approaches the crossing. I've never seen alternating headlights on a model train as it approaches a grade crossing. I suppose it can't be done.
@RailfanJason8 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response, but the only major railroads that have flashing ditchlights are Amtrak, NS and CSX and they only flash when the horn is blowing. So if the real ones don't, our models won't have them. But yes, it is something that is done all the time for those lines that have them. With the DCC systems, it's easy to program the locomotive sound decoders to flash the lights when you blow the horn. Glad you liked the video and thanks for the complements, it's greatly appreciated.

Nice. How many passenger trains do you run at the same time? And, how many passenger cars do you have?
@RailfanJason8 жыл бұрын
All the members could run their passnegerstrains at the same time if we wanted, the layout is large enough we could do that pretty easily. Just have to watch out tat we don't hit another. I only have a couple 10(ish) car trains and a couple 3 or 4 cars. Others have trains with 15 - 20 cars.
@justingreene68057 жыл бұрын
Hey @Jason Just starting out myself. I am working in a big Space but don't have lots of straight away for a yard. I see you created one in great detail in a pretty tight space. Looks great. Is this staggered track plan the way to go? How do you manage your locos? Love this layout
@RailfanJason7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't know that I'd say it was the way to go, each yard is done differently. It just happened to be the best for the space I had available, and how I was going to use it. It was originally designed as two 6'x3' tables for a 12x3 yard. As the years went on and the collection grew, I've had to expand the yard too. It's now 26'x4.5'. So if you can, leave yourself some growing room. Being a club layout in a massive room, we have the advantage of having long straight-aways for yards, unlike most home layouts.
