Rapido is the best thing going right now I think. They have exceptional models. The price is worth what you get unlike other model companies that charge high prices and don't come close to rapido quality. I think rapido has set a new bar for other model companies to reach. 👍

I’m in my late 50s and haven’t owned but a few old Rapido HO pieces and have always been given the perception that Rapido was really junk. Have I always been incorrect in thinking so? This locomotive is beautiful and this video is making me want one of their locomotives! Great video and the model has good sound! And how fun are the “bonus” sfx!?

it is a great model. some how I ended up with 3 of them. lol a lot of companies add little bags full of detail parts, but they never tell you where the parts go. so they always stay in the bag, for me

Why are the lights so dim?

I purchased a SP #7764 back in February. There was a issue with the front gyro lights had a bad connection. You have to tap the top of the cab to get the lights on. I sent it back to Rapido and just got it back 5 months later. Still have the same problems. Really frustrated.

You can hard wire the connection. Just follow the disassembly instructions very carefully when you take it apart.

@@tsgmultimedia for now I'm going to let it be. I don't think you should be disassembling a brand new out of the box locomotive to fix glitches. Rapido said they fixed the contact spring connected to the lights. Other than that it is a great engine

I agree. Having to work on a brand new model straight out of the box is bad news. Especially an expensive one.

Some random comments. • At 9:15, what's identified as a "triple valve" is actually an air dryer. • The white signal lights were Power Parts Model PPC-11300 Osciltrol lights. The two white bulbs alternately pulsated instead of oscillating. • The units were built with a second horn mounted in the area of the rear sand filler. They were ultimately removed. John, in your recent live podcast you mentioned maybe setting up a scene for these model reviews, and while I think that would be nice, I truly agree with your previous thought on the simple grey backdrop. It really allows the viewer to focus on the models details.

I love anything Rapido!! Their stuff is out of thus world, but the lights are pitiful looking in this model. They are no where near bright enough, which should not be! They should be very bright, and I pray manufactures will get their act together where scale lights are concerned!!!!!

I like the plain set and tracks. Rapido always gets great reviews, but they're out of my price range. At the first of the video, you show SF 7490. I assume the picture on the box is from a real train. However, I found other pictures of SF 7490 with black trucks. They got the bell in the wrong spot. It should be on the engineers side, just ahead of the fuel tank.
