Beautiful track! Brings back great memories of all the AFX/HO tracks we had back in the early 70's. We had a 40-foot drag strip and we would race for each other's cars! My buddy had this Malibu (if I recall correctly) that whipped every car in the neighborhood! Even those old Dragsters that were out! I recognize many of your cars as well, especially the older cars. Thanks for sharing.

I used to race AFX in my neighbors basement when I was a kid in the 70's. He had about 1000 sqft of track...not sure, but it was a huge layout. The track had five or six lanes. We would go to the hobby shop and buy modified motors to make them go super fast and place metal shimmies in the magnet area to help the cars stick to track better during high speed turns. We also would buy clear car chassis and paint them to our liking. It was expensive (at the time) but it was huge fun to race. There were always trophies and some cash prizes after the races! Thanks for reminding me of that time!

Man what a memory and many memories made in your neighbors basement as a kid. I got into slot car racing when my neighbor as well when I was a kid when we lived in cannada invited me and my dad over to his basement once club race night and let me race a 1/24 scale slot car with my dad against them during their weekly fri and sat night club racing and he had a massive 6 lane commercial tracks in his basement massive house and basement as well he had a huge road course 6 lanes and a massive 1/24 scale commercial oval track as well. And man that was fun. I was already racing real racecars at the track my parents owned but In winter nothing to do besides snowboard and he got me into slot racing and helped me build my first 1/24 scale brass chassis oval and road course cars. Lots of great memories now I have a massiveI got the exact same track exceot i added a bunch of extra track pieces and it fits on a 16 foot by 8 foot wide table barley i jept it the same style of lay out just made it way wider more turns 3 large high soeed straights and ot takes 18.7 seconds os the track record right bow for a box stock mega g plus f1 car with gel claw tires and on box stock tires and same class kf mega g plus car that track record is 19.001 seconds the gel claws made that much of a difference on same car with same driver going as fast as it possibly could around it. And I can't fit a 1)24 scale track in my racecar shop so I went with ho for right now until my shed is finished that's gonna be climate controlled with a massive 1/24 scale wood routed 6 lane oval with the Carrera digital system integrated into it so you can have all the Carrera digital features on a wood routed oval track

Lap counters ECT... super J cars some still new in their clear package.. Gun controllers transformers. Car parts new bodies, chassis, brushes, springs, tires, gears and axles - everything in excellent shape that has been shrink wrapped sitting next to a similar box of HO trains in my garage for decades now. Must have enough car track to fill a living room. Makes me want to open and set them up. If you want to add a grass look to your setup, how about artificial turf or green felt cloth like that of a pool table? I used to have a TYCO set up. Both the slotted and slotless race cars that you could change lanes by hitting a switch on th controller. The slotless car would momentarily lose their power connection to the track during lane changes, but you could block your opponent from passing you. Didn't always work, and sometimes the car lost the connection and ended up in no-man's land between the lanes. I think TYCO called it Total Control Racing. They also had glow in the dark guard rails and glow in the dark tape strips to place on the track so you could see the road layout. The cars also had headlights.
