First did OP of the HOA story actually join the HOA? Second no HOA rule or board decision can supersede any city, county, state or federal law.

It can be assumed that there was a covenant on the title that provided for a HOA. Most probably a Board was already in place and was completing the setting up of the HOA. If no covenant then a HOA cannot be foisted on any unwilling property owner. If no Board established when home owner purchased then home owner home owner must be invited to submit a nomination and partake in any election. In such a situation home owners must take an active interest in Board elections to forestall a clique taking control.

1st story, OP if you didn't sign up to join the HOA, they have no authority over your house and land. Get a lawyer and fight back because HOAs are a pain the the butt.

4:00 That _"legal advice"_ makes zero sense. Having constant appeal hearings makes no added cost to the HOA board, as they themselves hold the hearings at no cost to themselves.

What? Cameras? She never gave anyone permission to take video's of her. Of course, since the world revolves around her, she can commit any crime and the crime would be them filming her without her permission.

If YOUR vehicle was towed, file an AUTO THEFT complaint with police Report the Tow Company to State licensing. Initiate lawsuit with the HOA. Be sure you invite your stalking cousins to the wedding, some months OFF/AFTER from the real ceremony, and several states away.

I can't visualize the geography here. How is a cul-de-sac island in his driveway?
@organrick
@organrick 7 ай бұрын
I would take it to mean that the driveway has an island on it that you drive around, then it loops to go back the other way, and apparently the person was parking in that loop or on that island instead of the garage. The HOA was saying it’s community property.
@barbiek3987

@@organrick Then he should have gone straight to his municipality and made sure he was NOT paying TAXES on the driveway; since it didn't belong to him. Of course the HOA wouldn't have cared, they'd just charge MORE to the members.

OP with the parking space thief should have stated in the 2nd note that each time they parked in his designated parking space, the car would be towed at their own expense. Then followed through with the threat by calling a tow truck that works with the complex or better yet called the complex to have them have the BMW hauled away for OP

The second story from the last: Seriously grow a backbone instead of allowing your cousins and uncle to paint you into a corner. Stop looking for someone to come to your rescue. There is always a way to stop people from harassing you. Stop listening to your mommy especially since her advice isn’t in your favor. Your cousins are harassing you. Report them for harassment to create a paper trail. Keep any text messages from them that confirms your harassment claims. Stop being a victim and start fighting back. If you don’t plan to follow through by having them arrested then don’t ask for help. You help yourself in order to receive help.

1st story, was he reimbursed for the tow and impound fees? Did he sign the HOA agreement when he purchased and did he READ all the rules/regs listed therein? HOA's 'might' have a place in keeping neighborhoods from getting sleezy, but personally, I'd NEVER EVER live where there is a HOA.

Was the OP parked completely within the confines of his driveway and not on the actual street? If so, then the action of the HOA was illegal, as the driveway between the curb and his house is his property and is not part of the common interest. If he was parked on the street, even if it was in front of his driveway, then he was parked on a common interest space and is subject to the restrictions on that.

Third story: What was she thinking? She is a Karen, Karens don't think. "I'm going to cost a lot of loss of products at the store and blame the brats who were laughing at me, surely this place unlike any other supermarket doesn't have cameras".

Where I live (not the USA) There are no H.O.A's though apartment buildings usually have regulation bodies which are responsible for maintaining the building and amenities, and one pays a fee that contributes to the cost of this. But I really find the apparent insistence of the H.O.A's in these stories on turning even the slightest change into an opportunity to fine people who are already contributing to the neighbourhood upkeep weird. And even more puzzling to me is the fact that so many of these stories seem that these boards insist on turning the houses and gardens into 'cookie cutter' clones of each other! Regulations such as measuring the height of a lawn, or placing a flower bed, a birdbath or a bush in a specific area of the garden, the specific colour of paint on the house, or the trim on the doors and windows seem ridiculous to me. Yes, there need to be some rules to ensure that homes and common areas do not become run down, and perhaps that some paint colours may be considered offensive, but to have every home looking exactly alike is going too far. I, for one, would hate to live in such a place, no matter how neat and tidy the neighbourhood. Part of the joy of living is the individuality and diversity of nature and people, and all I can think of this type of area is how deadly boring they must look!

last story. Like WTH is the OP talking about? Was her mom 19 when she was born, or 19 when divorced from dad? If the courts decided how much he'd pay in child support, then it's up to the courts. And it's no one else's business HOW HE SPENT HIS MONEY. OPs half-brother, sounds like same mother, was older, was his father paying support too? grandma was an ACCOUNTANT who divulged financial information about someone? Doesn't matter it was her daughter's ex or soon to be ex. And if grandma was an ACCOUNTANT why did she allow her daughter, and her children, to be homeless? Why not help them until daughter could get on her feet?

What the F are these HOAs? What right do they have to say what people can and can’t do on their own land? I live in the UK where they don’t have them and I just don’t understand what the point of them is and how they can dictate rules for someone else’s land. Maybe, in general, they are a good thing and I only read about the bad ones but they do seem to exist for the benefit of the HOA board rather than the residents.

The first story is about a dumb ass with a worse lawyer. You can lose your home over fines and tanking a wait-and-see attitude often ends up biting you. Always have a good lawyer file grievances, and if needs be court lidation.
