There might be more of these ring objects, but oriented edge on, which would look just like any "normal" edge-on spiral. Unless we can differentiate a clean tilted ring vs. those of spiral messes, we'd never know.

Ring galaxies are so rare that seeing one through the other is like winning a major lottery. If the little ring was ten times as far then only a tiny fraction of the stars in our galaxy would see the alignment. Or maybe it isn't luck. Maybe Hoag's Object is a normal spiral galaxy with some stars hidden behind Dyson spheres/swarms, and the little ring is made of red stars the aliens didn't hide. In that case the alignment of rings would be visible from all angles. I notice that the bright red spot in the main ring has the exact same hue as the little ring, suggesting that they are contemporary. I suspect that artistic and boastful aliens are the cause of the too-perfect Hoag's Object, and that it can be proved (or not) by measuring the red shift of the small ring.

This might not be possible, but here goes my thoughts on Hoag's Object. What if it is nothing more than a supersized version of a Saturn like planet, but in this case it's a double galaxy. We now know that saturn like rings are more common than we at first thought. There's even a dwarf planet that has a double ring, and 2 moons; and the dwarf planet is egg shaped rotating once every 3 hours, end over end! Scientists would have rejected this possibility as wild speculation, but then it is discovered. Like Hoag's Object, no model yet described by astrophysicists can explain its existence, yet it exists. I think Hoag's Object is a galaxy sized version of a ringed planet. And it probably was formed in a similar way.

Because the physics of fluid dynamics is constantly at work in space and in the spaces that appear devoid of matter yet are literally filled with gases and fluids and solids that sometimes work like mirrors when viewed from a few hundred light years away Space is literally churning like a giant cauldron that we can’t see but can be certain that it is happening right now!

I mean the universe is pretty big, The odds of two really really rare Galaxy types just lining up on the right plane to superimpose on each other is unusual yeah but I mean there's probably tons of other planets that have similar phenomena... There are a lot of weird strange coincences though like for example when we have lunar eclipses if we were just slightly different in our orbit or any of another bunch of different factors it wouldn't appear that and I don't think there are tons of examples of being able to have such a perfect eclipse and many other places, And this is actually changing in the far future the eclipses won't be nearly so perfect. Imagine if we meet some other intergalactic civilizations and stuff before that happens I could see tourists coming All the way to Earth to be spectators of that It's such a fantastically rare coincidence, It would definitely be worth firing up the faster than light drive for

When supernova occurs the super heated matter shoots out into deeper space where temperatures can exceed -14 K so firey stuff will get trapped by the rapid cycling of physics of fluid dynamics does its thing. Where we see nothing can be masses of gases in frozen solid form where hydrogen freezes solid or at the least is in a liquid state as the temperature differential is just wicked!

GRAVITY IS TO WEAK ?? Gravity is a weak force, or you would not even be able to raise your leg off the ground. More importantly Gravity is a Linear Straight Line Force ! Gravity moves at approximately the Speed of Light (Much too slow). It therefore takes Gravity about 8.5 minutes to travel between the Earth & the Sun. But both Earth & the Sun are moving. Indeed the Sun is moving at around 2000mph, on its steady journey around our Spiralling Milky Way Galaxy. So in 8.5 minutes neither object is where Gravity is "aiming". Which would result in all the planets going off course, and disappearing into deep space. Further Gravity has a definite limit to its range, the Suns Gravitational field fades out with distance and only reaches some way beyond Pluto. Not nearly far enough to explain why the Solar System is part of the much bigger Galaxy, and doesn't simply disappear into inter-galactic space. In other words Gravity cannot explain anything that Circles or Spirals. So what controls the Solar system or indeed the Galaxy has to be a force far, far bigger and stronger than Gravity. Indeed a force that naturally likes to Spiral ! And there is only one such force, and its called Electricity. Indeed Electricity in space is 10 to the power of 39 times greater than Gravity. That's TRILLIONS & TRILLIONS of times greater than Gravity. And Electricity is NOT limited to the speed of Light, it travels TRILLIONS of times faster. Radio Astronomers who conducted a test some years ago, bounced an electrical pulse off a Star on the far side of the Andromeda Galaxy, a journey there and back of 4 Million Light Years. Gravity would have taken 4 Million years if it had been powerful enough. But the Electrical pulse did the journey in less than ONE SECOND. As a result a number of IEEE Scientists (that's Electrical Scientists), are of the opinion Electricity may in fact be instantaneous across the whole Universe ! Electricity's power and speed is of course big enough to explain what powers all the Universe. And as Electricity in Space "spirals" (the plus and minus threads intertwine at up to 3 Light years apart) in what are called "Birkeland Currents" (Named after Professor Kristian Birkeland who in 1903 discovered the electrical connection between the Earth & the Sun and earned a Nobel prize for this discovery.) So the repetitious references in this programme to "Gravity" are totally incorrect. Galaxies and everything else in the Universe are powered by Electricity ! THE UNIVERSE IS ELECTRIC - THERE ARE NO ISLANDS IN SPACE - CHECK OUT PROF DONALD E. SCOTT AND HIS PROGRAMME BIRKELAND CURRENTS & ELECTRICITY IN SPACE.
