It’s been HARD but I have learned to just enjoy an item in the store for its beauty but then leave it. I have plenty of beautiful things at home. And when you have too many beautiful things it looks cluttered and everything gets overlooked!

I’m 45 and The older I get the more I realize it’s all just stuff; and the more I declutter and the less anxiety I get when I take out every box to donate or trash, i m by no means a minimalist and will probably never be but I declutter often and enjoy thinking out of the box and repurposing things into something else and since this virus I am using what I have and appreciating it more

That is amazing!! YES, it's all just stuff. Living more clutter free is incredible!

My husband and I are moving soon so we made it a mission to declutter half of our belongings so we don't take it all with us. This is after decluttering half of our initial belongings at the beginning of the year. So overall, I think that means we have gotten rid of 75% of our stuff. It still seems like we have too much and we have accumulated more since the first declutter so maybe that is why. Still happy though and hoping to get rid of more as we unpack in the new place.

So I went on like a 5-hour binge of watching hoarders like one week ago, and then realized myself that I am a hoarder. I have nearly every possession I've ever had.. I go to flea markets all the time, and antique stores. I have a complete collection of every Nintendo console and accessories. Every pokémon game complete inbox. I need to separate myself from all of my incredibly non-valuable possessions that I do not remember or have not seen. The one thing that I will keep is all of my video games, and display them in a neat fashion in one room. I want to move out of my 2000 ft² apartment. Get a $1,200 ft² small home in the country. Put everything that's important in there, and have just a long enough commute to get through half of a really good music album. My reality was completely changed by the show hoarders, and watching compilations on KZbin of people such as this.. A most sincere Thank you...

I have 10 moving boxes of my daughters outgrown clothes in our spare room and the thought of trying to donate and or sell gives me anxiety. I don’t know what to do with everything 😭. I can’t get over the thought of how much $ was spent on all that clothes.
@alexbuchanan43514 жыл бұрын
Eliza Rios it might help to think that if you keep them it won't bring the money back. By spending the money you have already, you have had use of the items and also you are helping someone else by donating so they can then buy at an affordable price, perhaps they would never be able to afford at full price. By keeping them you might be stopping someone else from having the chance to enjoy them . And then they can do the same when they've finished. Hope that helps

I appreciate your content overall, and I'm glad that you gave the disclaimer that you're using the terms "hoarder" and "hoarding" very loosely... But I really wish you would stop using them altogether. There's a difference between someone who has way more stuff than they need (like most Americans) and someone who has hoarding disorder, which is actually a form of mental illness that has to do with people's psychological attachments to physical possessions.
@FancyThatwithCandice4 жыл бұрын
Yes. The disorder is sad and I know there are people who have it. I hope those people are able to get the help they need.

I was raised by hoarders. I am definitely nowhere as bad as my parents, but I do have some bins of items I don't need. I am going through all of that stuff now because I don't want to live like I had to when I was growing up.

I don't like anybody helping me declutter or organize. I have my system that works for me and I get so focused that I don't want to talk or people asking me questions etc. It's my therapy and I like to be alone when I tackle these projects...is that weird?🤔🤔🤔

As a major hoarder myself, it occurred to me that Let it go from Frozen would make a good hoarder parody. So: Let it go, let it go Can't hoard it all anymore Let it go, let it go Hire a skip and out the door But I can't stand, to throw anything away Even though it's crap, So I'm gonna keep it all anyway. 🤣
