I started off last year with "no buying makeup for 3 months", then it went into 6 months & I felt fantastic! Eventually I ended up removing all the products I don't use. I now have just 1 or 2 of each category. I don't understand why one need 20 different blushes and when they "declutter", Ye will say "I lovvvve this colour" and it looks exactly the same as the colour next to it! 😂

I'm a single shadow and cream product lover, nice to meet you! I decluttered all of my powdered products, they were just sitting there waiting for their expiration date. I bought them because I didn't know I was a single shadow/cream product lover yet! Palettes overwhelm me with choices, I'm cool toned and palette makers seem to be allergic to cool colors, and cream formulas work better on my dry skin. Same with blush and other products, if it's cream it's a "yes, please!" But I do use what I have, I'm a minimalist at heart!

No i am not a cream product person lol. Your video is so true. I love watching all these videos but i am glad there is no sephora in my country and i dont shop online. I just watch the videos to learn. But lately i am loving minimalism and decluttering videos, it shows me my small collection is ok, i use everything and its all beauty store or drug store. Example i watch videos before i buy stuff to make sure its the right one for me.i have 1 blush 1 highlight 1 foundation you get the picture.

Hate creams !!! Love this video ... you should have included when things expire. I highly encourage ppl to do project pan and see how long it actually takes to use it up. I like high end make up and I actually open up the packaging to use every last drop . My primer had 2 weeks of product . My foundation had a 1 weeks of foundation. I just use scissors or I have a make up scrapper that was a few dollars and really gets in there .

YES! I've done this too occasionally...especially when the stuff is super pricey. It annoys me that you can't get all the product out of the packaging sometimes without cutting it open. I also do plan on doing a makeup expiry video, but my research has been a little contradictory. Stay tuned... 😉

Sometimes you can find a symbol at the back of the packaging that looks like a jar with a number below. That's the amount of months it takes before expiring (after opening it). For mascara it's about 3 months, cream products and foundation 6 months, lipsticks 12 months and powder products 24 months. The shelf life is even shorter if you're a makeup artist or share your products with friends. However, I'm guilty of using my products for way longer as long as they don't change in consistency, colour or smell.

I can proudly say I've never refrained from using a product simply because it was expensive or LE. My cheap makeup always gets pushed to the side, not because they're necessarily bad, but because I want to use my expensive things first. I recently went through my collection and found a Viva la Diva palette that I thought I was just going to toss because it's a cheap brand and the eyeshadows would probably suck. Turned out it was full of beautiful high pigmented duochromes that I love! Now I'm worried I won't be able to use it up before it expired and I regret buying all those high end products because this cheap palette is just as good :/

i think your example at 10:33 wasn't exactly fair because without looking at the cute packaging and colours, the Clover Palette was released to help raise funds and donations for the Best Friends Animal Society and other animal charities. sure people probably wouldn't use the entire palette, but it's cool how a beauty product is dedicated to helping out causes among many others. great video btw!

I have to admit that I hate throwing out expired makeup. It inspires me to use it once the expiration date hits 😂 however, at least I don’t have THAT much makeup. I have (1) mascara, (3) lipsticks, (6) lip stains, (4) eyeshadow palettes, (1) eyeshadow primer. That’s it! I need to stop purchasing the lip products though 😂
