The encyclopedia yearbooks : they will sell on Ebay or marketplace if you market them as "great birthday gift" for people born in that year. I sold 8 of them that way for $20 each, and they weren't still brand new. You are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your journey to help us along in ours!

When you do your crafting Konmari, you should do a positive mantra like you did a long time ago! "I am strong and great at decluttering." "I am choosing what to bring forward with me in life." "I am rehoming things that can be better used by someone else." "I am choosing my favourites so that I can have even more fun with my crafting." ☺

I have an unusual encyclopedia story: In the university town where I live I worked for years for the Red Cross Book Fair. As computers became more a part of life we stopped selling encyclopedias. On one occasion in our donations was a set of 1950's encyclopedias from Russia. I figured they were full of lies and of no interest to customers. Someone walked into the Red Cross chapter house, saw the Russian encyclopedias and offered $500 for them! Sold!---However with "regular" encyclopedias, maybe try them on one occasion at most in a yard or garage sale and if they don't sell, just donate them for recycling. They would bring in so little money that it's probably not worth trying to sell. If you have OLD leatherbound encyclopedias someone may want them because they would look good for decor.

I cried for both of us when you talked about Bubba’s kitty cubby. My cat died in 2018 and she never left my heart. I validate my feelings by having her beautiful kitty face as my phone background. I thought I would never be able to love another cat, but then I realized that by hoarding my feelings of her, I was denying myself the experience of loving another furry sweetheart. I’m reminded that “love isn’t love until you give it away” and I chose to give the love I have to a new kitten. I guess what I’m trying to say is, when I really immersed myself into my feelings rather than memorializing my feelings with the monument of an object, it was much easier to let go of the objects.

@brown bird Is it that today people don't have movies on hand but rather watch them through paid subscriptions on smart tvs? I have many video tapes. So far they have held up well. They are kept in a cool, dry area so maybe that helps. I never liked DVDs because they seemed to scratch too easily.

Hi honey, that's my first comment in about 2years I'm following your channel, I just wanted to let à comment about the kitty thingy. I do understand that it is very emotional for you to let it go because obviously you loved your cat deeply, but honestly if that cat house makes you mourn it again, it's better out... I mean, Im old enough to have seen many pets die, but I don't feel 'sad' about it, nostalgic for sure, but id rather remember the good moments than the last you see? I guess because you were a hoarder you kind of focused on the past and the loss you've faced, but as you said, that won't bring kitty back and you'd only feel sad. Remenber your pet as a friendly companion and dear sibling, all the thing you've done together and the love between you. I see you've changed perspectives a lot this past few months and even years really, though now it seems you're growing immensively quicker, you've accomplished a big step, I know its daunting but I sincerely think its the best decision. That kitty bed does not represent anything in itself, it's a memory but unfortunately it does not bring you joy so... Bye. And for sure kitty does not mind. Pretty sure she has a better one where she is now 😉 keep being strong. You rock girl!

@@ahoardersheart also the cat bed isn't the only thing you have left of your cat: you have your memories. Maybe a scrapbook of him can go on your crafty to-do-list. Or something that represents him, so you get the warm fuzzy feeling of happy memories of your cat 🐱 I adopted two fur babies six days ago and boy, they/we already create so many happy memories and I'm laughing more than usual, because they are hilarious and so cute 😍 Please don't hold onto something that brings you sad memories.

My Gahhhhhhh. I have lots of old pet stuff that only takes up space and justify keeping it around “in their memory,” but My God when you explained that keeping it won’t bring em back and just knowing there are so many better and more productive ways to keep the memories and feelings of them around really helped me to get over these kinds of things. I’m working towards getting over these memory-based emotional attachments and this is helping me a lot. Keeping or getting rid of memorable items won’t alter my memories, and sometimes there’s just no use for em.

Another amazing job! 💯I can really empathize on how hard the kitty bed was to declutter. But it's not the memory you're letting go of. That will always be in your mind and 💓. And that's the obstacle for anyone in over coming sentimental items/ attachment. You aren't letting go of your love, or memory of your fur baby, loved one, happy memory of a certain time, age, or that of your children either. Those will remain after an item is physically gone. Baby clothes were hard for Me as well. But I kept a few extra special ones from favorite photos, in My son's "baby keepsake box". I donated the rest to help another Momma and her child, just as you do with the sharing table. That fills the heart so much better. When in doubt, I took photos of sentimental items and found the photo works to spark the memory or feeling I was (literally) "holding on to." I now have a nice "digital memory library" and it takes up way less space and I don't have to worry about managing or keeping the item from decay. I will admit seeing your sweet Kitty's photo at the end brought a year to My eye thinking of how much he meant to You. You took a major stride in healing, moving forward, and still honoring his memory. Hugs.🐈💗💗

There are also charities that do crochet blankets and maybe ome of those might want them to use in making blankets? I appreciated you sharing the background about how your hoarding disorder started in childhood. It still so hard to comprehend hoarding boxes and plain old trash and all the shopping issues that created the mess.

Any children books(clean ones!) and school/office supplies I would donate to a local teacher. They are having a hard time stocking up for their classes with all the craziness. Mostly in the cleaning supplies area but the less they have to spend on books and pencils and art supplies the more they can spend on wipes and hand sanitizer.

Sending lots of love to you, and Bubba the Kitty-Kitty. What Marie Kondo suggests really does help: thank the scratching post house for serving Bubba so well, for keeping his nails healthy, and for being a good safe & cozy space for his hide-and-seek games and his cat naps. ❤🐈😽 Edit: Maybe an animal rescue or foster would like it. You can check local animal shelter and also fb groups. In my city there are a few official animal rescue orgs that are very active on fb, and supplies for foster kitties are always appreciated!

That's the issue with hanging on to things that belonged to people/pets that are no longer with us... As long as we do that, we haven't really let go of the grief and then when these things suddenly show up, it kind of rips open the old wound... This was a big step for you! Bubba lives on in your memories ;) big hugs, you rock!!

It is not the last thing you have of your cat. It may be a thought and emotion connected to it while you declutter the item, but it is definitely not the last thing you have of her. You have the good memories, the nice feeling in your heart when you think of her (those remain, no matter what). And, you have at least one pretty picture (the one you shared with us at the end).

nursing homes cant use hot pads. Residents dont have any cooking means in their rooms. Church groups that do basket raffles, or retirement communities could use them. My dad lives in one and they actually have a "share" table in their community room. I take stuff and place on the table.

After watching Erica Lucas( a new fan of hers). I am reminded of how little we really need. This will be my new focus. Using self care, medicines, sleep , cook, property and garden maintenance as my basic categories. The prop and garden items will be sold in an estate sale after the house sale. I am going to choose items to keep as if a move is imminent rather than an eventuality . I will try to focus on more sales of furniture.

Since they’re pot holders, maybe see if there’s an organization that helps people that are starting over in life and have just moved into their first home or apartment after being homeless?

Awww, Bubba Cat. Beautiful silver fur. A local library of mine has a selling table to raise money. I was able to give them many of my items to sell, especially the more fragile pieces that I was afraid might get broken when being donated to other sites. However, when I would go to the library, I would aim to keep my eyes away from the selling table because seeing my things hurt....like waving bon voyage over and over again to a friend sailing away in their ship. It's funny though because I think all got sold expect for one candy dish, and then I felt bad for it! Oh the Hoarding Mind is a mysterious entanglement of thoughts and emotions.

You could always keep a couple of the really cute crochet pot holders for gifting this holiday season, they could be added with other little things as a nice bundle ♥️ also I don't know if an animal shelter would take it, but that might be a nice place for Buba's nest to go (or a friend with a cat of course) xox great video!
