Wow, those piles from November were huge! I think they key is that you already had most of the tubs organized and then found more and more during your basement declutter, so now you have a better overview of your Christmas stuff. The Holiday cave will be awesome! Can you put all the fake plants in one tub? Or maybe on a small shelf if you have a spare one, like the yellow with tin boxes? You will find a great solution, I bet! No criticism intended, but I wanted to share that in the Konmari method, Mari does mention that large categories can be broken down further, but she recommends still grouping like with like. For instance, if you put all of the tree ornaments and decor in one pile, the knickknacks in one pile, the greenery, the table decor... Basically by type of holiday decor. I've used that strategy for different parts of my wardrobe, like workwear, casual clothing, maternity, and occasion wear. I've also used it in the kitchen to get all of my pots and pans together, all of my utensils together, etc.

I forget the grace, love and compassion. I also approach decluttering from do I even like this? Instead of a sparks joy idea. I loathe feeling like a hostage to things…Lip gloss/chap stick I don’t even like, 26 of the same size screw driver in the junk drawer. Random sets of sheets that don’t fit our beds, every towel we’ve ever owned….I had to start somewhere.

Maybe you could also do even one more declutter after putting out all decorations. To declutter some of the things that you chose not to put out. I do this once a year and it helps me see what I don't actually use and that maybe it is actually not that sentimental to me that I thought before. You are doing soooo good. So proud of you!

I have plenty of wrapping paper and tissue paper. All the bags I have are all the wrong size (and I don't have that many bags), so unfortunately I will have hit to the dollar store or Big Lots for gift bags this year. I have been using what I have and now am needing to replenish. Within a limit of course! I do not need to go back to hoarding again, but I do like to have a few extras on hand.

I had the whole reindeer family that my Mom had given me (gift from my Aunt). I sold the whole lot to a lady on Facebook marketplace that has a collection. Felt great to get rid of them. Great job decluttering and regifting.put the poinsettias in a bin-will keep them from getting dusty. Get wrapping paper container and ornament box containers-they have multiple levels and you can probably fit most in one bin.

I am amazed at your strength and determination! You have beautiful things, and you are honoring your self and your home by getting rid of things you do not JUST LOVE! I look forward to your enjoying it all AND packing up after Christmas! But, not to rush things, lol ... I think once you start placing things out, you will rearrange your thoughts on what NOW goes where .... because, you have kept only the best of the best! Your preference of some items will likely change, and you will decide to discard them afterall. Sort your loviest and more classy decor from your boys (children's) decor. All are equally important, but you will find building vignettes, setting scenes, and balancing your themes much more thoughtfully curated and beautifully arranged! I do like your idea of organizing by room, but that would be IMPOSSIBLE for me. I have many things I need to store together, but I put all over the house. For instance, my large Snowfolks, Santas, Angels, Tin Men, Nutcrackers and the like - each over a foot tall - are stored together, as consolidaring saves so much space. I carefully pack all ornaments in boxes of like style and/or size, generally by lying them flat between layers of thick tissue or bubble wrap. My crystal and china and christmas dishes are stored together, as are my collectibles, games, greenery, bows, and etc. There are exceptions for ie. blown glass ornaments and such. They require a box and bin of their own. You are likely going to find you are able to discard unnecessary boxes for ornaments, dishes, other decor or collections for more room. You will pack them away more sorted, organized, and cleanly/safely wrapped! And, you will succesfully be able to really categorize items before putting them all away! I think that if you really brainstorm and map out better organizing options before packing away your bins, they will be cut in HALF! First, bc many are only half full now, and I think you will be able to discard bad packaging practices. Honor your kept items by carefully packing like ones together in better wrapping ie. tissue, bubble wrap, etc. You will use THOSE each year rather than old news paper and trash (grocery) bags! Finally (for now, haha), mount some bars coming from the walls, and a long cross pole (closet like/weight bearing) in the back. You will be able to hang wreaths, outdooor decor, wall decor - hang pictures/wall decor on picture hooks(wall) and garland, clothing, linens(pole). That Christmas closet wil be half full! You obviously love your family and friends so very much! Your home is going surely going to be more beautifully decorated than ever before! You and all of your boys will be more pleased than ever before! Btw, I'd keep that gorgeous snow globe out all winter! Items like snowflakes, my all white winter village, and some of my most precious snowfolks are kept out theough around the end of March. Living in the deep South, this is some of the only snow I see! May God bless you and continue to give you discernment, strength, and peace as you prepare your home for the holiday and as you pack it all away! I look forward to seing it alll! XO

@A Hoarder’s Heart. Those two reindeer’s are also in my Christmas collection. ❤ The girl is Rhonda reindeer, and the boy is Rodney reindeer. Hallmark sold them. I bought mine when I was 19 in Alaska 1987 ish….and my now hubby bought his when he was in college the same year… different states. They found their way back together in 2004. Love those little guys!
