August 2024. We've been married 52 years. Never had the TV in the living room. It was in the basement for 25 years. Now, it lives in our small den. No eating while watching tv. We played games at the dining room table or now at the kitchen table. We watch TV maybe 5 or 6 hours per week. Tina, Al's wife

I’ve followed you for two years now and love what you do, and this is just a small suggestion if you would like one 😊 Now that you declutered so much in your living room perhaps you would consider adding another storage unit? You do have a lot of things yes, but you and your family use a lot of different categories of items in your living room and I think it would be easier for you all to put things back if you had enough areas for them so you don’t mix them too much. Perhaps you could add another shelf unit, similar to the black one you have, between the door and the sofa? That way you get an area that you can use for things like bags, shoes and other things that you bring with you during the day. And it might create a “landing-area" of sort to put things that comes in to your house, instead of putting it in the areas that you use for games and school-things and dining and all those things. That way it might be easier for you to keep up with daily declutering. And it would also create a bit of a border between the entrance and your living room if you would like that 😊

Not a criticism but it seems like you have to declutter the same area over and over again. As a busy and involved mom have you considered having a “drop zone?” It can be a couple baskets and/or a small table in a less visible corner. Things your family cannot deal with right away go there, and it gets decluttered daily, weekly, whatever schedule works best for you. That way you are not greeted with clutter as soon as you open the door and it does not encroach upon your living spaces.

DO NOT under any circumstances let your children have TV, computers, video games in places where you can not see everything they are watching ALL the time. We trust our children but we do not trust their flesh. It will break your heart when they see horrible things. Please trust me. Don't do it.
