Hoarding Vintage Coin Operated Machines in My Garage

Super cool!! I have some older vending machines also. I have a vintage bottle coke machine and a vintage Hi-C vending machine also. I am an electrical troubleshooter and I just started working for a company that services car washes in the trip state area. I have a Master's in Chemical engineering but I like being out and doing cool stuff instead of being cooped up with a bunch of wokies.

Rowe changer... remove the hoppers, coin detector is inside of changer at the top where coins fall from hopper down to the customer. Unscrew screws allowing the metal housing to be pulled towards you. Each hopper has one coin detector. If you have power to the unit you should see a Red sensor light at the top. Blow it off with a can of air spray and make sure no coins are jammed in the track, normally works for me. If not you can buy the sensor from Kleen-rite along with the any other needed parts.

The Hamilton changer takes the Medeco plug locks. I have the same machine, but just quarters. I believe it would be possible to convert that one to quarter only... it would be interesting to see a quarter machine with a card reader!

I think your right it could go quarters only. I have heard its illegal to exchange cash on a credit card so I would have to keep the credit card side tokens.

can you swap the coin hoppers and see if the problem follows the hopper?

Yeah it actually doesnt follow the coin hopper which means its probably something more then that roll pin

I don't think the Rowe changer has much value to people that know changers. If it were me I wouldn't put much money into it to make it function correctly. You could pull and keep the Mars validator (they are kinda hard to come by these days) out and sell the rest for parts or scrap. The Hamilton has potential and is worth fixing. That is an awesome machine. Ask Randy about both of these on the CWF as he is the best at changers.
