@Alucard450004 жыл бұрын
1:35 is actually called The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, and was composed by Bilbo Baggins and sung by Frodo in the Inn at Bree. They "stole" it from the LoTR and added it to The Hobbit instead cause they though it would fit. So its not really Bofur's song.

So, after having watched this a lot, I've finally noticed two little nice details that I like. When they sing about the Green Dragon in the start, they shoot the green ball on the pool table into the whole. Later when they sing "throw the wine on every door" they shoot the red ball in. The details shall not go unnoticed, despite they have been for the past 4 years.

Lyrics: *The Green Dragon* Oh you can search far and wide, You can drink the whole town dry. But you'll never find a beer so brown (but you'll never find a beer so brown) As the one we drink in our hometown. You can keep your fancy ales, You can drink em by the flagon. But the only brew for the brave and true... Comes from the Green Dragon! *Hey Ho, to the Bottle I Go* Hey ho! To the bottle I go To heal my heart and drown my woe Rain may fall and wind may blow But there still be Many miles to go Sweet is the sound of the pouring rain And the stream that falls From the hill to plain Better than rain or a rippling brook Is a mug of beer inside this Took! *Blunt the Knives* Blunt the knives, bend the forks, Smash the bottles and burn the corks Chip the glasses and crack the plates That's what Bilbo Baggins hates! Cut the cloth, tread the fat, Leave the bones on the bedroom mat Pour the milk on the pantry floor Splash the wine on every door Dump the crocks in the boiling bowl Pound them up with a thumping pole And when you've finished if they are whole Send them down the hall to roll! *Bofur's Song* There's an inn, there's an inn, a merry old inn beneath the old grey hill, And there they brew a beer so brown The Man in the Moon himself came down One night to drink his fill. The ostler has a tipsy cat that plays a five-stringed fiddle; And up and down he saws his bow, Now squeaking high, now purring low, Now sawing in the middle. So the cat on his fiddle played hey-diddle-diddle, a jig that would wake the dead: He squeaked and sawed and he quickened the tune, While the landlord shook the Man in the Moon: 'It's after three!' he said. Now quicker the fiddle went deedle-dum-diddle; the dog began to roar, The cow and the horses stood on their heads; The guests all bounded from their beds and danced upon the floor. The round Moon rolled behind the hill as the Sun raised up her head. She hardly believed her fiery eyes; For though it was day, to her surprise they all went back to bed!

Ah, the reason for this being described in the Narsilion section of the Silmarillion. It was right after the Two Trees, Laurelin and Telpirion, were poisoned by Ungoliant, the giant spider and mother of Shelob (as seen in the films). There was one fruit from each tree remaining. The Maia race (basically demigods-- Gandalf belongs to this race) chose two bearers for these fruit. I do not remember their names, but the female one took the fruit of Laurelin and the male one took the fruit of Telpirion, hence the sun is female and the moon is male. God, I need to get a life, don't I.

This was VERY VERY cool. My family and I (all choir singers) read the hobbit and LOTR together as a family and made an audiobook of it when I was a kid, and Mom composed music to go with all of the songs, including the ones you all sing here! It is interesting to hear them sung to a different tune than the one I have set in my head years ago by my mom, haha! Great job guys, I think Tolkien would be proud :) (I actually do some LARPing and always go as an elven bard, and most of my songs come from Tolkien's books! The Merry Old Inn song is a favorite)

It really is one of the best. Well, they're all the best, but it's still amazing. It's not in the books, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Tom Bombadil poem that Tolkien recitied and recorded. Give it a listen if you haven't already.

@@victoriaphillips152 Me again, from the future. I never noticed that! He saves it a bit sooner than Hank does. What’s weird is that they weren’t even singing at the same time. We know from 1:06 that Hank and Peter on the left side are filmed concurrently. So the Peter that knew Hank messed up was the one drinking beer at the time. That means Hank and Peter both screwed up the same line in different takes.

Plenty of people have probably said this, but if I had three wishes one of them would be that I could spend a day with JRR Tolkien just showing him all of the wonderful things that people have managed to create based on his work. I was just listening to a recording done during a summer in which he was becoming depressed and disheartened by lack of interest in publishing his book. Imagine that, imagine an author who would one day sell an unbelievably impossibly influential work depressed and beaten down by rejection. I wish that I could meet that man and share with him the joy that he's brought to millions of people. God above I wish.

Not mentioning that your music is brilliant. This guy who complained about your video here actually inspired me to buy your album right now to support you. I am just a student so I can't give you much except the support here in comments and buying album sometimes but if everyone does this, even buys one song instead of hating then there would be no need for self-promotion.
