I'll get to live in a place just like that when I'm old (er) in at least one way.. OK, I won't have a window, or a door, or get to enjoy it much, but I'll be 6 feet underground, anyways ;-) I really DO want to build an underground hilltop residence though. If I had my own property I'd do it in a flash.

Right at the end, as he knocks on the "fairie's house" I couldn't help but remember the "Friendly Giant" series, back when I was around 4 or 5 years old, that I used to watch every morning at 10: 15 am.. Can't remember how it went, exactly, except for the gates opening, "Rusty" the ?, the Giraffe as well,and some flute that he stuffed in one of the puppets shirtpockets, and , of course, the miniature chairs and , I think, fireplace.. So yup, semed reminescent of that as he knocked on the faeirie's door!

There are homes here that have been built years ago, that look more natural and the only modern appliance is the fridge/freezer! And the 'true' Shire had round doors not modern ones!! Nice but no Shire home!!
