Hobble’s Modpack Rating System Explained:
Difficulty - How difficult I think the modpack is and how much prior modded knowledge is needed.
Progression - How well the quests help you towards finishing the modpack.
Integration - How well the mods included are integrated with progression and each other.
Repetition - Is the content repetitive? How often did I wish I had chosen a different pack?
End Game - Is the endgame content insane and grindy? Is it wholesome? Could it have been an email?
Innovation - What did the developer do that was clever, unique, or different to other packs
Enjoyment - What did I enjoy? What would I change? Who do I think that pack is suited to?
Time - How long did it take me to complete the modpack.

Poor Hobble. This isn't Mekanism; this is Greg. Well... NuclearCraft. Still. Seeing this episode definitely makes me retract my suggestion of doing GregTech tiers in this series. No doubt you could do it, Hobble... I just think it'd drive you absolutely batty.

Actually? As long as you split up GTNH (the, objectively, most complete GT modpack excluding nomifactory) into multiple parts, maybe one chapter per vid? Might have to be less. Regardless, as long as you're willing to spend a bit of time learning how electricity works, and have some time on your hands, (remember to use all the tips you can get, too!) it ends up being a lot nicer. Oh, and always batch craft. The sizes you've made it compact claustrophobia are TINY. Usually you want a good stack of ingot/whatever material as buffer ABSOLUTE minimum between expansions.@@Hobble.

Welll, theres nuclearcraft but it starts getting deeply involved only after you start being able to make a refined storage system? Given how much hobble struggled in the early sectiom (such as wasting time trying to get aluminum before evem having a second compact machine) im inclined to agree with the idea he shouldn't try gregtech heavy packs XD This pack has microcrafting, yes, but mercifully MOST of it can be ignored or bypassed with just a lil cleverness. Grehtech new horizons (popular greg pack), though, while there are bypasses and alternate routes for many Processes, there is no escaping the need for convoluted crafting at every half step.

For everyone wanting to play this pack PLEASE DONT USE PICKAXES EARLY ON TO GET COBBLE. Instead craft shovels to get dirt and sieve it for cobble pieces. Yes its more junk but as hobble showed, ylu can store them in a bedrock box

Seive dirt? Why would you spend the time seiving dirt? Wanting more seeds maybe? But otherwise That seems like a terrible time investment, and iirc you gotta get a ways in to even make the mesh. The wooden shovel IS a good tip though, as iirc that grts you stone bits directly for cheaper than a wooden pickaxe. Also gold picks whenever you have extra gold. They go brrrrrt

luckily you don't have to do much sieving in this pack. I think you can get all the way to 5x5x5 rooms before youll want to bother with what few things need seiving beyond maybe seeds from dirt...at which point you can automate quite a few things. Most seive outputs are disabled entirely.

Compact Claustrophobia was one of my favorite modpacks. It's completely focused on automation, with a clear sense of progression, with some quirky humor thrown in. It helped that I hadn't experienced things like nuclearcraft before, so I ended up getting introduced to a whole world of technical minecraft modpacks. My solution to Compact Claustrophobia's AFK problem was to just completely overbuild every piece of automation I made. This isn't Nomifactory. You're actually rewarded for taking time to set up huge automation, since the requirements for each progression tier are massively larger than the previous tier, and basically everything you take time to automate gives you a big reward because it's used in bulk in later recipes. Some other modpacks like Nomifactory end up constantly introducing new resources, so there's no point in building big automation, since you don't really need a huge volume of early resources. I do like Compact Claustrophobia for that reason. It rewards going big. Which is ironic, considering the space constraints. Really, the reward for building big automation just reinforces the central gameplay loop of unlocking bigger and bigger spaces to build bigger and bigger automation. Automating every single part of each process, while doing it at scale, was interesting and fun. I ended up going the nucleracraft HOP route, since you can't automate insertion of the graphite rods for the arc funace, and I got tired of manually replacing them and realizing my factory hadn't been producing HOP for a long time. I ended up with far fewer rooms in my final playthrough, but with a whole lot more automation stuffed inside. Two stacked fusion reactors, at least 3 medium and large nuclear reactors, around a hundred nuclearcraft machines just producing coal for making HOP ingots, and around 50 autoclickers powered at a pretty high level, with automated pickax crafting. I went big, which removed most of the boring waiting time, while being far more of a fun problem to solve. Also, I bothered to get computercraft working, so I had multiple robots for automated construction of ender pearls and compact walls, which massively reduces the tediousness of the late game. I can't imagine crafting all those ender pearls by hand. I'd recommend Nomifactory. It cuts down on the worst parts of Gregtech tedium. Yes, the early game has a ton of microcrafting, but the actual item quantities you need are relatively small, so most of the challenge is in figuring out the production chains. Once you've got a single fully automated production chain for each item, that's probably enough of that item for the entire rest of the game, which seems to be your preferred play style. Set up automation once, then never touch it again.
@Hobble.
@Hobble. 3 ай бұрын
That sounds like a brilliant playthrough, I hadn't considered anything but the ARC for HOP, mostly because I was min-maxing it to finish the modpack. But you are right, It did mean a lot more AFK for me. With the robots, I figured that in the time it took me to learn and build it, I could have just brute forced it by standing in the corner, I don't think this is the pack for me to learn the mod in. It did mean I got to watch some movies while working though, so that was cool. :)

I don't know if you knew this, but you can use the copy paste tool in an auto clicker a bit of integrated dynamics allows you to detect when to place. A dropping conveyor belt can automatically drop items from attached inventory. That's what I did to avoid learning computercraft. Bind the gadget to an inventory and use an energetic infuser to keep the gadget charged. Auto input/output and its smart enough to only pull the gadget out from the auto clicker when it needs to.

Actually, the tiny machine “power cells” with the thermoelectric generators can be optimized to need only 4 uranium blocks and 4 water. Put the water and uranium in the corners so that the three “neighbor” corners are the opposite temperature item, and the 12 generators along the edges. The final part is a bit trickier, you basically have to intentionally set your entrance point at one of the sides before you place down a generator, then place a fluxduct where your head will spawn in. Because fluxducts are not full blocks, you don’t suffocate and it allows you to hook the rest of the available space with fluxducts and a tunnel. (Tunnel needs to be placed and calibrated beforehand)

A significant amount of the repetition could have been reduced by automating more early on. Especially after getting the building tool. At that point you could just blueprint a production cube, make a recipe for it and mass produce it. As for the miniaturization, I'm pretty sure you can automate that without a turtle. Even if it is with an autoclicker and the building tool. Though I have to admit that I never got that far when playing the pack. I quit playing once I reached the point where I was able to grow trees.

Hey, I just want to point out that the Hobble Score is center-justified. It's going to be remarkably rare for a pack to score over 75% unless you deliberately fudge its numbers, and most will hover around 50-60. Mathematically it would be 40-60, but as humans we tend to very slightly overrate experiences we didn't hate.

I love this pack, I have played through it once and plan to do so again sometime so this video was very entertaining. I would have loved to see more of the challenges and post escape done because that is the real endgame but nevertheless.

Bro never did figure out how to automate the projection field without robots. You can absolutely put the copy/paste gadget in an autoclicker. It's just a matter of keeping the right amount of materials in the connected storage. Also, using the fired crucible over the magma crucible is somewhat of a gamechanger for obsidian. The coke augmented redstone furnace will void excess creosote on its own, no nullifier needed. You were probably occasionally using 200kfe/t at the end because the reactors have their own internal buffers. The fusion reactor only explodes when the coils run out of power, so the priority was probably just messed up with the explosion. Backing up on power doesn't explode things. I think that's the bulk of the things you missed. This is actually my favorite skyblock type modpack to date, so I know a bit about it, lol.

Super awesome video as always. Love that I can watch a whole pack being played through as I would love to do it myself, but simply lack the patience lmao. Can't wait to see more in the future :D

breakout is a modpack similar to this one, at least the concept of starting in a small space and space management, and even has a speedrunner version of the modpack, tho the speedrunner version is only recomended if you've played the og version.

Would you consider reviewing Forever Stranded? I’m playing that right now, and I’m no doubt doing some stuff wrong/inefficiently but for some reason it’s sometimes extremely hard to find information on how stuff is supposed to be done so the extra reference would be extremely welcome

I feel like going from 3x3x3 containers to 5x5x5 is a bit of a jump in power, since you get so much more volume. I kinda wonder what having a 4x4x4 cubed space instead would have been like

I was interested in this mod pack until I found out poop is so prevalent. I can ignore it if it's an inconsequential joke or is only used for a bit. But seeing this video it overstayed its welcome, at least for me. Nothing inherently wrong with a joke, I guess, it's just not for me, it would annoy me when I play. Thank you very much for this video, it was fun and interesting to watch!
