Thanks for the review. It does look like a decent kit to build and a good replica. The extra detail is easy enough to add if the builder wishes and I will follow your example. Your version came out very well.

I've really enjoyed browsing your channel and watching your videos. I aim to try and your narration style but i have such a tough time being as natural as you without bungling my point! Great job, thanks for the effort you put in. - Jeff

Thank you for the kind words Jeff, its greatly appreciated. It took me a while to find out what works for me regarding that narration, at first I would carefully script out everything I was going to say, but I found that I sounded too much like a robot when I did that. So I switched it so that now I do that narration in real time unscripted, for most videos I record it in 1 take. I do make a few errors when speaking, but I find I'm able to more naturally articulate what I'm trying to say when I do it this way. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me! Thanks for stopping by! Brett

I have built the same kit, yes it is a simple and fast kit, but still beats the old Monogram. Very nice job.

I ordered that cockpit green with the wash you recommended. I have to agree it is a great color. I have used Tamiya yellow green in the past but I am going to build a 1:32 Trumpeter F6F5 Hellcat and after searching pictures I like that Ammo Mig green better. Enjoying your channel thanks

Can’t wait for Devotion to be released this November as the Bearcat was also featured even though the Corsair is the real star of the movie

I am very much looking forward to that movie, it will be great to see all the warbirds in it, but yeah, I'm excited for the Bearcat, it needs more love!

You know, on that CTA sheet there is an option for a F6F-5P that I think was on the same cruise as your Bearcat (F.D.R's shakedown in March of '48). I thought it was a cool picture and am really considering getting the Academy Hellcat and doing it.
@HammerheadModelMaking6 ай бұрын
Oh Interesting! I might have to consider that myself.

I actually did the new F6F Hellcat Detail & Scale. I found a picture of that Hellcat taking off from the F.D.R. and included it in the F6F-5 section. It even has an old, white, F6F-3 drop tank! I especially like that one because the markings are a lot like what was in the old Monogram Corsair back in the late '80s.

@HammerheadModelMaking It's a long story, but I went to Pensacola and Connecticut to get all new photos, wrote new text and corrected Bert Kinzey's inaccuracies. If you wanted to do another Hellcat, there are a lot of really cool options: there was a French one that had a bunch of bomb markings. Then there are the drones if you feel like painting and weathering reds and day-glo orange. And I did go ahead and order an Academy Hellcat to do that Jolly Roger's photo bird!

How did you do the preshading of white prior to the blue topcoat? I just tried it for the first time and it didn’t go very well. I’m using an Iwata Eclipse, .35mm needle, Vallejo Air white, about 20 psi. The paint had lots of overstay, I wasn’t able to have a nice fine line of paint. Not sure if it’s the pressure, paint too thin or thick, wrong size nozzle, etc.
@HammerheadModelMaking5 ай бұрын
I hate to say this but its really just a lot of trial and error. From your description I would say you don't have the paint thinned enough, I find the almost all Vallejo paints need to have some thinning. I use X-20A as my thinner and start with about 15-20% thinner. I find that is a good ratio to start with, then you'll just need to adjust from there to suit your needs.

Ok thanks. I’ll try thinning the paint a little more.

Nice build. Bearcats were never used in combat by the US. France used them in Indochina though and they got beaten up.

awesome stuff. gonna use this to help me build a late war f6f. did you put any clearcoat on after the weathering?
@HammerheadModelMaking2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tom, for this build, I didn't use any clear coats after weathering. Normally I would drop a matte coat or satin coat, just to seal it all in, but for this one I didn't do a lot of weathering, just basically the exhaust, so I just left it in the gloss coat.

something I noticed in this and other clips, is that the concept of "scale colour" apparently has gone out the window... or am I mistaken? Good job on this kit, BTW
@HammerheadModelMaking2 жыл бұрын
I would say not so much that it was thrown out the window as it was never something that I was really interested in trying to replicate.
