Free hand painting of black stripes over white scared me completely! One wrong move and it will be a quite an effort to fix. Great build of my favorite Hurricane modifications!

I really enjoyed watching this build . Arma produce some fantastic kits, if you like them you will like Clear prop, their kits are of a similar standard. You make a good point about photo etch, sometimes 50% of the parts are redundant thanks to improvement in the tooling of contemporary injection parts and better decals.

Another wonderful build Greg. A very nice Hurricane indeed. It's just a shame you didn't choose the black one. It was flown by the Czech Karel Kuttelwascher. He was one of the best night fighters in the Battle of Britain. It does not matter. I plan to build it in 1:24 scale from Trumpeter. You inspired me a bit with your big model 🙂👍

This is an incredible little kit. Some details are better than the Hasegawa's 1/48 Hurricane. Good thing about the 1/72 scale is that one can build an entire squadron of Hurricanes. You really did a great work with this kit.

The hasegawa kit is old. The best hurricane in 1/48 is the Italeri kit offering which is same tooling tamiya reboxed so you know its a good kit, it comes with engine etc.

Hopefully we'll see a 1:48th Hurricane from Arma Hobby some day! They certainly know their stuff. I agree, in 1:72nd some of the cockpit PE details are superfluous... Good mainly for skill building.

The Arma kit its nicely detailed even without the etched fret. I have two of them one the standard kit the other the expert kit. Thanks for the inclusion of your 'problems' with the photo etched parts I'm not thrilled with photo etch at the best of times. Arma does make some very nice kits , any plans to do more of them? Looking forward to your next build.

Alright, sorry to be commenting on a 6-month old video. It's a great build, but I think you have been a tad unfair to Arma about the instrument panel - the reason for the two decal system they use is so that the back decal has the dials on, and the front decal is supposed to represent the glass cover - and it does work well. When you poked through the front decal I was going NOOOOO at the screen haha. It gives a lovely effect of depth to the dials [although obviously you can't see much once its all closed up].

Nice job Greg, good technique for the invasion stripes. I have Revells new tool Hurricane on the bench and it has stalled at the primer stage as I don't like any of the color schemes supplied with the kit, but thanks;, you have given me some ideas so I am now looking for an invasion stripe scheme. You should try this kit as its not to bad. 👌

It is totally awesome to see, how great You make that kit. Especially, how great You painted wheel wells with brush, using silver paint! And in the subject of Arma - I made two Hurricanes from them, Mk. I and Mk. IIC. These are great kits, and I personally think PE parts are "not fully necesary" in that kit. It will be also good, using simply "Model kit" standart, maybe with Yahu panel. And probably it is why Arma Hobby announced there be no more that standarts like "Expert set" or "Model kit" in the future. ;) I hope to see next sets from Arma Hobby from You in the future! All the best for You in whole 2023! ;)

I very rarely build 1/72 these days, for the same reason as you mentioned, failing eyesight and for me, a not so steady hand, but this Greg is awesome, if I hadn’t known I would have thought you were building a 1/48 example. No matter how good (or bad) the kit is, it is the modeller that brings them to life, and once again you have failed to disappoint. Just waiting on the Herc now 😂😂

It looks great but it also proves my prejudice against 1/72 scale. It’s just too damn small to really appreciate the model with my awful eyes. Might get better now that I’ve had cataract surgery in both eyes. But I think I’ll stick with 1/48th. My wife won’t tolerate 1/32nd for some reason. 🤷‍♂️ 😄

Just a thought re masking undercarriage bays. If you intend the wheels to be down, use the other parts with them up to mask off the bays. Then remove them once the painting is done.

Excellent review and build. I like that you get right to the build, point out challenging or fiddly bits and move on again. I have the non-expert version of this kit coming in the mail, so your comments on the minimal advantage of the photo etch pieces is very encouraging and helpful. I also learned 2-3 painting tips from your video that nobody else has shown - particularly dry brushing over the cockpit green with a lighter version of the same color to add depth and pick out detail. I just subscribed and look forward to more of your builds.

Good work sir. Ive heard nothing but good things about Arma, but 72 is just too small for my eyes. Have you tried UV glue for delicates in place of CA? I recently started using it and it is much more forgiving if used with care. I say this after detailling the inside of a An-2 canopy. I got the cheapest avaialble on Ebay, very pleased with it

Hi Greg. Wonderful build as usual. I've done the Yak-b from Arma and I got the same problem with the photoetched parts. I rather prefer decals when it comes to the seatbelts or the instrument panel. Otherwise the kit was terrific. Very nice technique for the Invasion bands. They look superb!!!!!

That's a stunning little kit and great for people who have limited space for models. As for PE it drives me up the wall at the best of times and at 1/72 I don't really see the need for it. I hate using CA glue to fix it also as I find it difficult to get just the right amount of glue to stick the piece without having a big blob of the stuff.

That is a great looking model and you did a fantastic job with the finish.... I especially take note and appreciate the description of how you did the D-Day stripes; very good idea.... 👍 I have a version of the Arma Hurricane kit; six versions but without the masks or photo-etch.... looks nice, but I really think the detail present on the newer Airfix kit is sharper and crisper, and there looks to be more of it! I've built a few of them now, and the kit goes together superbly; in some ways it's a smaller version of their 1/48 kit - without the cockpit cage framework details! However, yeah, your finished model is a very fine example of a good kit! 🙂

Hi Greg - super little kit and a nice build, thanks. Agree that in this scale (and in this kit, which is detailed nicely) the photo etch contributes little. But don't be in too much of a Hurri (sorry) to dismiss it, I think the belts are still worth adding, rather than decals. Where I find PE most useful is to replace seriously overscale bits like wing fences and bomb/missile fins, especially in 1/72. Looking forward to the next one, keep 'em coming, cheers.
