Hobby King Desert Fox Carnage Repair & Upgrade

The Hobby King Desert Fox suffered some damage on our first outing with it and the Yeti. I finally got around to getting the damage fixed by using a combination of parts, most of which wasn't intended for this vehicle. Parts list is below. Please be aware that the drill bit blanks that I used are #28, not #29 as stated in the video. I didn't catch this mistake until after I uploaded!

Interesting approach, as a Yeti owner I would suggest you add a spacer tube between the A-arms at the diff side to help support better the arm as they tend to rip out from there. Alternatively some guys add a thin stainless pipe the full length of the A-arms covering the hinge pin.

That's an issue on the Yeti (that thankfully, I haven't had happen yet - but I already have the upgrade parts for when I get time to make the video), but on this truck the aluminum hinge pin retainers and the stronger hinge pins should prevent that from happening.

Great video. I have a VRX SCT and it's the same chassis. Have you ever tried to boil the suspension arms? I read it makes them more flexible. I have not tried it myself. Fortunately, I haven't broken my suspension arms yet. Probably because my wheels don't stick out on the SCT version. I'm very curious to see if this works. Also, FTX Carnage/Vantage have the same parts. Thanks!
