While I wholeheartedly support your channel and what you do for the hobby, I do feel feel strongly for the customer you mentioned - who called in to whine about the Dark Vengeance box set. Selling Codexes and the like in stores which feature outdated rules, and thus cannot be used for playing the game is considered highly immoral (if not outright illegal) and would most likely result in a stern warning from the Consumer Ombudsman in most Scandinavian countries if ever reported. It is not unlike a video game store still selling physical boxed copies of online games who are not longer supported. Something I've come across multiple times with with games such as Warhammer Online, APB, or Tabula Rasa still sitting in their shelves way past their servers having been taken down. In any which case, keep on keepin' on! I love to consume your stories while kit-bashing terrain pieces in my living room!

They don't consider anyone from Japan may have actually been a fan and is fluent in English and get tired of seeing it be acceptable to belittle us and our culture as tentacle freak pedos. There is a lot of leeway in western nerd spaces to disparage Japanese culture and other us from all political sides while fetishizing and viewing through their own cultural biases (something they make sure not to do for other cultures). Usually I just ignore and don't say anything but after finding a place I thought I could actually fit into, been bitter to realize I can't here either. Last I will speak on it anyway. Okay so I take allegations like this very seriously, so I am going to give you a chance to back up your point. How is saying a lot of Japanese media (manga, things like that) has weird tentacle stuff and oddly underage protagonists racist? I have no idea why you left the Discord as it is one of the most banal, normal and pleasant servers I've been a part of - and there are a thousand people who would happily back me up on that from all walks of life. So let me lay this out: 1. Nothing that I said in the video is actually untrue. A LOT of Japanese content meant for wider consumption tends to veer into weirdness, sometimes quite perverted weirdness. Like Berserk is not even considered extreme by most manga fans I speak to and it is one of the most unsettling things I have ever read. 2. There is also a LOT of Japanese content that has no such issues and is actually quite profound on multiple levels. When compared to most other countries, however, Japan does have a rather large percentage of unsettling tentacles and things that come very close to or blatantly cross a line. For every Ghost in the Shell there tends to be 5-10 Gantz-like mangas. 3. Look at Final Fantasy for my last point. Almost every game starts out well and grounded but devolves into an ultra cosmic, weird mess with its most celebrated entries (VII, VI, IV and IX) staying away from this trend in the most part. Almost every other game plot makes your head hurt as you get deeper in, its like the writer's creativity just runs away from them. I know that, because I sense myself doing it to and I need to make sure I pull myself back. My aversion to this is not based on race, its based on a writing style I do not get or like. Not liking a certain aspect of a culture's style of telling stories is not racist - grow up. I would suggest asking me what I think first in future about a certain topic as yes, I do read the comments. (Edited this last line as I was walking xD)

I wrote a response to this several times and deleted as I realised what I wanted to say was a conversation that does not lend itself well to internet comments and would be something much better said over a few drinks in person (if you ever come to Tokyo let me know lol). I will say that I see your point and concede that I over reacted with my language. I had just had a bad experience in an online game being told to go eat dog because of my username in kanji but that has nothing to do with you. I don't agree with everything you said as I feel using Japanese as an adjective to describe negative traits in a media is something people should avoid doing as we have free manga design philosophy meaning anyone can make a story they wanna tell and it wont be for everyone in Japan (most people here don't really know Gantz etc maybe saw the live action movie or know the name) and I hate the idea of lol Japan so weird (which I deal with every day online) as it is selectively viewing certain things through a non Japanese lens and applying that as our truth. My point is not getting across well I am sure. Just wanted to let you know I didn't use racist in the way it is often meant I realized I chose a poor word and should have been better at expressing myself so for that I am sorry and I should not have mentioned the discord as it had nothing to do with my comment at the time and was another issue. I kind of sort of disagree. We should call out racism when we see it. Obviously, however, the way that lady went on was ridiculous and the DM's response was spot on. (lol get rekt, closet racist) However, I have to ask North, 31:35 to 35:40, could some of your own bias be at work here? Or has there be a ton of really bad experiences behind this? I ask because it is an incredibly strong opinion to have. Not that I disagree entirely. As I said above, I think we she call out racism/sexism/toxic/creepy shit when we see it. Sadly unsubscribing. You have a great perspective on the hobby and I've enjoyed your videos for a long time now but these things like calling male feminists sex pests is just such a chimp brained opinion. Sadly this sort of rubbish is just taking up way too much of your content time for me now. I'm all for agreeing to disagreeing and still bonding over our love of the hobby, but for someone who preaches keeping 'politics' out of the hobby, you sadly don't practice it enough. This has gone from a channel I would recommend to any of my friends to introduce them to the hobby, to one that would reinforce their fears about it. Best of luck.
